From HP: "The remote user pressed the Stop key, causing the session to be terminated." Meaning the problem is at the location of the fax you are sending TO. Call them, and ask them to confirm that their fax device is ready and able to receive.

Hp laser jet m1536dnf MFP won't send fax comm error 388

You can start by making sure that the photocopy is working, this is to ensure that the scanner is working. Next, try to isolate the issue if this is only happening to only one fax number? If all of these have negative results, I suggest for a hardware reset. Follow the steps for reset found here, How to Reset the HP LaserJet Pro M1536dnf Multifunction Printer. Goodluck :)

EROR 420

The error that you are receiving means that the machine goes to receiving mode, but receives no command from the transmitting side. The problem is not with your machine, but from the party sending you the fax.
1. Remote side mis-dial.
2. Check with the other party.

I need assistance with fax error codes # 322 and # 358. What do they mean?

Error code 322- There was a communication error with the receiving fax machine due to poor telephone line conditions.
Solution
Set the receiving machine to receive at a slower transmission speed
If the session fails after sending several pages of a large document, resend the document as several smaller documents.
Retry the fax reception at a different time when telephone line conditions have improved. Call the telephone provider if line conditions fail to improve.
Error code 358--
The remote user pressed the Stop key,
The remote machine encountered a system problem such as no paper or a paper jam.
Try
Configure the local fax machine to use a slower reception speed.
Disable ECM mode on your machine.
Try sending a fax to another location.

WHAT DOES FAX ERROR CODE 358 MEAN THANK YOU

  • The remote user pressed the Stop key, causing the session to be terminated.
  • The remote machine encountered a system problem such as no paper or a paper jam. This prevented the fax from receiving any more pages, and caused it to terminate the session prematurely.
  • The call-waiting service can cause this error. The click, heard for an incoming call, is actually a momentary disconnect of the line.
  • The remote machine encountered an incompatible feature causing it to terminate the session.

Fax sending problem

It sounds like you have a few problems. First, the comm error usually means there was a problem communicating with the other fax. This maybe caused by a phone line issue, or a bad connection. You will have to replace you ink but that does not have anything to do with your sending issues. As far as the pages getting stuck, the separation pad under the top cover should be cleaned. If you lift up the cover where you load your pages to be sent, and look in there(on the backside of the keyboard)you will see a flat square rubber piece. Clean it thoroughly with a rag and some rubbing alcohol. Also clean the rubber rollers as well. Good luck John
