SOURCE: 2004 dodge neon has high rpms and no speed

ok i just replaced mine to but you have to make sure that you replace the throwout bearing(correctly)
if this does not happen it is like the clutch is engaged partially all the time and another thing is that make sure no oil is in the clutch pack. i replaced my main engine seal while i had it apart because it was tossing oil into the clutch area.

Good Luck

SOURCE: myservice engine light came today rogh in idle at light rpms seem a little high this is a 98 saturn sl2 I think engine is a 1.9

the check engine light means that a code has been set. the code will reference a faulty system that must be diagnosed and repaired. sorry for the vagueness, but there are e gads of codes that can cause the rough idling

most aftermarket parts places will scan the car for free. this will give you an idea of where to start.

SOURCE: Idle seems a bit high. Need to know how to adjust and what RPM

There are a couple of things that come to mind. One is make sure the EGR Valve and intake manifold are not carboned up. I normally have to clean them every 60 to 80,000 miles. It will actually close up with Carbon and restrict air flow and make the EGR valve malfunction.
Secondly, the diesel pump may just have a lot of wear and it is putting out too much fuel at idle. The only way this can be checked is by the dealer with a VW specific scan tool such as VAG-COM. With this tool, you can go in and look at the the pump timing and start injection quantity.
I have the start injection quantity many times but you have to have the software and login to get the readings. Most dealers will not do this but would rather sell you a pump if it is off.
Remove the hose from the intake where it connects to the EGR valve and look at the inside with a flashlight. See how much carbon is accumulated. This may not solve this problem but will help with starting and performance issues if corrected.

Good luck and hope this helps. To adjust the Idle, it needs to be programed in to the ECM so i am thinking that it's a Carbon issues that is restricting the air flow which the ECM is compensating to keep the engine from stalling.

SOURCE: 2004 jeep grand cherokee idling problem. Revs motor 200 to 500 rpms higher while driving.

I had the exact same problem on my 04 GC. I put some Techron Concentrate Plus Fuel System Cleaner in from Wal-Mart and it seemed to fix the problems right away. Let me know.

SOURCE: sluggish acceleration. High RPM, High Oil Pressure

I hope I'm wrong but I think your torque converter is failing. Sorry, Gary

My 04 mxz 600 ho sdi runs great above 7000 RPMs. But drops a cylinder like it's following a plug when I try and go slow

I suggest you try one of those instant download manuals. My nephew bought one for me when my car broke and we could fix it all by ourselves with the manual at www.reliable-store.com . This
website is very good for this.
?Try it.

The rpms seem higher on this vehicle than I am use to seeing, cruising at 80mph the car is hitting 4000rmps. Is this normal for this vehicle?

there is not enough specif details available to be able to be close to exact But I will give an example that you can compare
in a manual transmission with a diff ratio of 3.909 and in 5th gear the rpms for 79 mph is 3200 rpms
the difference between gears is around 250 rpms so if you try to correlate the differences if it was in 4th gear the rpms would be around 3750 rpms so I suspect that the over drive section of the transmission is not engaging ( assuming that it is auto transmission)
so to answer your question , I am saying that it is too high in rpms for that speed and I suspect that the od is not being engaged as the rpms at 80mph I would be looking at around 3200-3500 rpms depending on the diff ratio

I read that you know about the Ford Five Hundred CVT. When climbing an incline or pressing the Set + on for the Cr Cnt, the engine revs up to 4000 rpms but the speed does not increase and the engine stays...

my mom has a freestyle with the same motor and transmission. hers will do that too at certain speeds. at 45 the cruise works fine but at 60 it wants to rev up and stay there. im not completely sure if this is really a problem or if the cvt just naturally does this. hope this helps you
