Having the SIM in the phone doesn't affect whether the phone charges or not. I'm guessing either the charger you have is bad or the battery in the phone won't hold the charge.

Did you buy the Doro second hand? If you bought it brand new take it back to where you bought it and they should be able to sort it out for you, often free of charge.
If you bought it second hand you'll find most mobile phones are 'Locked' to a specific network so you have to buy one of their sim cards. A sim card from another network will not be recognised by the handset and it will give you the "Invalid" message you're getting.
Try this. Turn off the phone, remove the sim card and turn the handset back on without the sim in it. Don't worry this won't damage the phone. There should be a logo or name on the screen showing who the registered network is. If the network is different to the sim card you have the phone won't make calls or send texts.
There is a reasonably easy, (and often cheap), fix for this. Take the hand set to a good phone repair shop and for a small fee they should be able to 'Unlock' the handset to where it will accept any network's sim cards.

it means your daro card is not supported your sim card so you have to change your sim card or daro. if you want to keep your sim card then go to sim service center and tell him to provide you new sim card as a same number they will help you
Remove the battery and clean the battery contacts with methylated spirits and the battery contacts in the cell phone.Make sure the battery is inserted correctly with the camera contacts.
Either your sim card is not seated correctly, the contacts are dirty, the sim card is dead, the copper contacts in the phone do not reach the sim card or the electronics in the phone are faulty. Try to change a new battery' check the battery terminal contact'. sometimes is not properly alligned' or maybe your battery is loose in tha back houssing of your phone.
