Sound quit. Worked fine yesterday, checked speaker on setting.

DVD player is hooked up with home theater and sound still works with those speakers and DVD, but I can not get any sound at all from TV speakers. Nothing was changed from when we watched it yesterday. Help please

You said the problem was the audio when playing dvd player, and since it worked through home theater, that would leave the tv sound card. Answer wasnt wrong, question was.

Is there a diagnostic to confirm that? Can I work around it and get sound through external speakers?

Hi, I'm using the Samsung HT-E330K. It works but does not speak out. The power display is fine but no sound

If your Samsung HT-E330K home theater system is not producing any sound even though the power display seems to be working fine, there are several potential causes and troubleshooting steps you can try:
1. **Check Volume Levels:** Make sure the volume on the home theater system and the connected TV (if applicable) is turned up and not muted.
2. **Check Audio Source:** Verify that the correct audio source is selected on the home theater system. If you're using multiple input sources (DVD, TV, AUX, etc.), make sure the right input source is selected.
3. **Audio Cables:** Ensure that all audio cables are securely connected to both the home theater system and the audio source (TV, DVD player, etc.). Sometimes, loose or faulty cables can result in no sound.
4. **Speaker Connections:** Check that all speakers are properly connected to the home theater system and that the speaker wires are securely inserted into the appropriate terminals.
5. **Audio Settings:** Go through the audio settings on both the home theater system and the connected TV (if applicable). Ensure that the correct audio output settings are configured.
6. **Mute Function:** Double-check that the mute function on the remote control or the home theater system itself is not engaged.
7. **Speaker Balance:** Check the speaker balance settings to ensure that sound is not unintentionally directed to one side or speaker.
8. **Reset to Default Settings:** If you've made any changes to the settings recently, consider performing a factory reset to revert to the default settings.
9. **Firmware Update:** If there is a firmware update available for your home theater system, consider updating the firmware as it might resolve any software-related issues.
10. **Test with Different Source:** Test the home theater system with different audio sources to rule out issues with a particular device.
11. **Test Speakers:** If possible, disconnect each speaker one at a time and test the audio to identify if a particular speaker or speaker wire is causing the issue.
12. **Check Speaker Impedance:** Ensure that the speakers' impedance matches the specifications of the home theater system. Mismatched impedance can affect sound quality.
13. **Contact Support:** If you've tried these steps and still have no sound, consider contacting Samsung customer support or seeking assistance from a professional technician for further troubleshooting and repair.
Remember to refer to your device's user manual for specific instructions related to your model.

A DVD player - an old one JVC RM-SXV074U. Sounds won't work when playing DVD.

First, I'm not a JVC tech, but I have worked on audio/visual system hook up and installations. This is the answer I gave for someone with a muted or garbled sound from DVD player:
*Check your audio cables (Red and white are audio) Pull out and re-seat them for a good connection.
*Check if your using 'other' audio methods like 'Optical' or the older multi-pin Video/audio combo plugs. Check DVD and TV cords and plugs for cuts or cracks. Replace if needed.
* If all audio from any source; Cable, Tape, DVD, etc. sounds the same then check the speakers (may be blown) Continue with steps bellow to find the specific problem.
* Go to DVD player and check audio options. set up for normal play. Only use other options IF you have the equipment (speakers) for that set up. IE; don't use 'theater' mode if you don't have theater speakers wired up for that option (usually a minimum of 3 to 5 speakers max.)
* Check the wires to each speaker for cuts, shorts, disconnection. Re strip wires as needed to ensure a good connection. Weak or low sound is an indication of a shorted or blown out speaker.
*Got to TV set up menu and check your audio options. If your not sure then reset TV to factory settings and perform an initial set up again.
* If you have good sound on regular cable and only bad sound on the DVD player then try another DVD player with the same cords. If your still using the older Yellow-Whit-Red cords then any similar video device should work on the same cords. Many VCR, Vid Cameras have the same outputs that can be used to test your TV set up. (Digital Cameras may have the same too.)
* Final, If your still having problems then check with the TV and or DVD vendor for advice.
*********************************************
* If this is a stand alone device (not hooked up to anything). DVD's use lazer (LED) to read the disk. Vid and sound are an intergrated signal. If you get vid then sound is there but may be garbled due to decoding problems. I had an exchange student here in US but found out that DVDs bought here won't play in her country (former USSR). I sent her home with a DVD player (walmart). If you are using the right player and DVD disk then your DVD player has a problem. Not much you can do other than check for dust. Cleaning disk may destroy the DVD as fix it, depending on the method used. Best bet is to check with your vendor for repair or replacement. Sorry, again. Not much to do with end products now days as it is cheaper to get a new device that to pay someone willing to fix it. (unless they are forced to by warranty. Usually the company will just swap it out. faster and cheaper.) Aloha, ukboy57

Trying to get my ps3, Emerson hd tv and coby DVD938 home theater all to work together

The DVD938 only has analog audio input (2.1 channel), thats why you have only a white (left channel) and red (right channel) audio connection from your ps3 to the home theatre. There is an option called PROLOGIC in the setup menu that will simulate 5.1 with the 2.1, it basically takes the 2.1 channels and splits it into all the speakers.

No sound coming from center channel speaker

check surround sound settings, or another channel" this is your voice speaker, or hook one of the other speakers up to the center channel to see if that center speaker is good , you can also use a battery like a 9 volt to test the center speaker just touch it to the speaker wire momentary. and listen for a cackling noise if it makes a noise it is more than likely good

Need home theater hooked to TV with built in DVD

This is the easiest way 2 explain it. Hook up on the home theater should be labeled in and out. same as on the tv. The TV might no have that feature as the DVD is built in. You might just have an option for sound from the TV/DVD to the home theater. Again OUT from TV IN to receiver. Same with any other device set up.

Sony Model DAV ? SB 500W Home Theatre System

Please check at rear of TV for Digital Optical IN port as home theater should have optical out port at rear. If you got any optical in port in TV, just connect optical wire between TV and home theater.

2nd option is check Line Out pins at rear of home theater system, if found, hook red-white RCA cable there and put it to same input in TV where you hooked Video (composite or component) cable.

Let me know the results to help you more.
