Hp pavilion a1102n winxp home. Blue screen after win splash logo, flashes too fast to read. 2x256mb. Dial up modem. Tried: removing modem, removing front usb FireWire media card slots. Removing one or...

I saw your video and check the blue screen error. It comes for a friction of second and disappears but i kept my media player in slow motion mode and checked it. This error belongs to a missing registry file.

A Stop 0xc0000218 error message means that a necessary registry hive file could not be loaded. This error message can occur if the file is corrupt or missing. To resolve this issue, you can reinstall the operating system and restore the registry files from a backup. The registry files may have been corrupted because of hard disk corruption or some other hardware problem.

This error message can also occur if the driver has corrupted the registry data while loading into memory, or the memory where the registry is loading has a parity error. In the latter case, turn off the external cache and check the memory chips.

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
  1. Start your computer by running the Recovery Console, run the chkdsk /p command on the drive, and then restart your computer. Test to determine whether the issue is resolved. If the issue is resolved, do not complete the remaining steps. If the issue is not resolved, go to step 2.
  2. When Windows loads, press SPACE BAR when the "Load Last Known Good" message appears.
  3. Complete a parallel installation, and restore the registry files from a tape backup. To do so:
    • Reinstall Windows in a separate folder.
    • Restore the damaged registry hive from backup. This procedure is specific to the backup application that you used to make a backup. Consult the documentation of your backup application or consult the vendor if you need assistance. Typically, this procedure requires you to restore a system state backup to an alternate location, and then copy the appropriate registry files to the %SYSTEMROOT%\System32\config folder of the damaged operating system.
    • If you do not have a tape backup, include the backup of network servers and production workstations.
NOTE: If Windows is stored on a FAT partition, you can restore the files by using another computer and by copying the registry hive files to the %SYSTEMROOT%\System32\Config subfolder.
best of luck!

Severe Windows corruption - the file that keeps all the configuration settings is missing or corrupted.
If you don't have a backup of the registry then you will have to reinstall Windows.

My computer will not boot it keeps restarting. Its saying it can not load hive file or its log or alternate. Its corrupt absent or not writable. Can someone help? Iwas thinking it might be the bios but not...

Open cpu cabinet and reattach the RAM memory.
Reconnect both connection to harddrive.
Most of the time this error comes because of RAM need reseat into it's position.
Then check if you still face same issue then you need to fix error on harddrive.
For that when you power up the computer press F8 key then enter into safe mode and if you able to enter in safe mode.
Then first remove temp files from computer.
Go to start->run or press windows key + R key then you can see run type in run "%tmp%" then press ok then delete all temp files then type in run "prefetch" press enter delete all prefetch files.
Type in run "chkdsk /r" then press ok then press "y" then restart computrer then it fix error on harddrive.
Also scan computer with updated antivirus then it works fine.
But if you are not able to enter in safe mode.
Then you need windows disk for that insert that disk into rom then enter in bios and set first boot device as cd/dvd rom then save settings and exit from bios .
Then it boot with that windows disk.
Then enter in recovery console then type "chkdsk /r" then it fix error then check if still same then again boot with disk.
Then follow the procedure on screen and choose options are when it ask for "Repair previous windows" .
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Problem with pc

Here is the solution right from Microsoft.

When you try to start or restart your Windows XP-based computer, you may receive one of the following error messages:

Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SOFTWARE

Stop: c0000218 {Registry File Failure} The registry cannot load the hive (file): \SystemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE or its log or alternate

This issue can occur if the System or Software hive for the Windows XP installation is missing or damaged.

To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods.

Use the Recovery Console Tool
To restore a damaged registry hive, use the Recovery Console to restore the backup copy of the hive from the Repair folder. The Repair folder contains a copy of the system's registry hives that were created after the first successful startup of Windows XP.

WARNING : Although data should not be affected by the following procedure, you may need to restore changes you previously made to programs or system settings since the first time you successfully started Windows XP.

To replace the damaged registry hive and restore the backup copy of the hive from the Repair folder: Start your computer to the Recovery Console.

Determine if the file that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section of this article is present, and if it is, rename it:

In Recovery Console, change to the c:\Windows folder.

Type cd sytem32\config , and then press ENTER.

Type dir system , and then press ENTER.

If you cannot run the preceding command successfully (because the file is missing), skip to step 3. If you can run the preceding command successfully, type ren system system.bak , and then press ENTER.

NOTE : If the message that you received referred to the software file, replace "system" with "software" in the preceding command. For example, you would type ren software software.bak (instead of ren system system.bak ), and then press ENTER.

Type copy c:\windows\repair\system , and then press ENTER.

NOTE : If the message that you received referred to the software file, replace "system" with "software" in the preceding command. For example, you would type copy c:\windows\repair\software (instead of copy c:\windows\repair\system ), and then press ENTER.

You should receive a "One file copied" informational message. For additional information about how to use Recovery Console during startup, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
Q307654 HOW TO: Install and Use the Recovery Console for Windows XP

IMPORTANT : If you encounter problems when you run the preceding commands, you may need to use the Change Directory command ( cd ) one folder at a time before you run the preceding commands. For example, type cd system32 , press ENTER, type cd config , and then press ENTER.

Type exit , and then press ENTER to quit Recovery Console and restart the computer.
