Sometimes the thermocouple gets so weak that it may require you to hold in on the pilot knob for a couple of minutes after the pilot is lit. If it still goes out then you need to replace the thermocouple or thermopile, which ever you have.

Relight combi pilot light?

These are designed not to light once the thermocouple fails.the thermocouple has a small wire that positions in to the pilot light which checks the pilot is on and keeps the gas governed.once the temperature drops it shuts off the gas to prevent a build up of gas in a room where a pilot light has gone out.this is why you need to hold the button in on reignition to allow the thermocouple to heat up so the gas keeps open.
Try to relight by turning on the gas ....pressing down and holding the button for at least 10 seconds whilst firing the piezo to ignite flame.do not release gas button for at least 10 seconds then slowly release.if the flame on the pilot will not stay alight....then it is likely the thermo has failed.try cleaning the metal wire that is above the pilot jet.still no joy then it needs replacing.hope my comment is of help...please vote.

Need to light pilot light

You need to turn the knob on the gas valve (inside the heater) to the "pilot" position. Then, while holding a flame over the pilot assembly push down on the knob.

Gas should come out of the pilot and ignite. Continue holding the knob down for 10-15 seconds. Release the knob and the pilot should stay lit. If not the pilot generator may need to be replaced.

Turn the knob to the "on" position, close the heater and turn the heater on and turn the thermostat to hot. The heater should fire. If it does not fire and the pilot goes out, that may also indicate a pilot generator problem.

Hi there i recently had another gas appliance installed and the gas was turned off while this work was done, so my hot water service pilot light went out. the guys who did this work didn't relight the...

First turn the dial on the hot water heater to the off position and wait for 5 minutes. Then turn the dial on the water heater to the pilot position. Press in the dial and use a gas grill lighter, long wooden match, or similar device to light the pilot. Once the pilot is lit, continue to hold in the dial for about 1 minute then release and turn the dial to the temperature setting that's comfortable for you.

We have a fairly new heater. went to turn on the pilot light and it won't ignite. what do you think is wrong? gas has been turned on before igniting

Sometimes it takes a few seconds for gas to reach the pilot. When you place the thermostat knob/gas control in the pilot position you must then depress it (push it down and hold it down). Wait a few seconds while holding it down, then press the ignitor button with your other hand while continuing to keep the thermostat knob depressed. You may have to hold the knob down and press the ignitor several times. You should see a spark at the pilot if the ignitor is working properly. Continue to hold the knob down for 30 seconds after the pilot lights, then release the knob, it will pop up & you can then rotate it to lo/med/hi and the heater will come on.,

How do I light my Rheem water heater if my peizo ignitor switch isn't working

Remove the burner access cover under the control valve. Press the pilot light button (gas control) and hold it down. At the same time, light the pilot. Continue to hold the lighting button for a few seconds until the thermocouple heats up. Release the button. Twist the gas control knob to the ON position, and the burner should fire up after a few seconds. Replace the access cover. Good luck.

We dont think our cylinder is on we have just moved in and have no hot water

The question is? I'll assume you cylinder is the water heater, right?
On the heater (water) you will find or see the red controls and a sheet metal cover over a hole. Remove the cover and this is where you light the pilot light. Press down on the red dial and turn it to pilot. In that position you will be able to press the red button . Geyt a long match or bbq lighter, then, holding down the red button dow for a minute or so and place a match or lighter into yhe area where the lines go The flame will catch the gas and lite the pilot if yo simply move your glame around. When the flame catch on the pilot, continue holding the button down for sveral minutes until the buld the flame isheating gets hot. Then release the buton and turn the main dial to on. The main burner should fire up. If not, and the pilot goes out, repeat the process. The bulb in the pilot flame is a thermocoupler that shuts all gas off if it doesn't detect a pilot flame, so hold the button down longer. If the pilot goes out when you release the button, The thermocoupler is no good and needs replacing. Good Luck_Ned_

Cozy wall heater

On top of the gas valve you will see a knob. Turn the knob to the position that says pilot. It's on the side of valve. Press the knob down with one hand and take your long lighter stick it by the pilot tube looks like a small aluminum tube should light pretty quickly hold for 30 seconds release the button you have been holding down. Now turn the knob to the on position. Make sure the thermostat is turned off so the flame don't fire up as soon as you turn knob. If you are uncomfortable gas your gas company and they should come out for free.
