Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC27's brush bar is powered by a belt engineered to last the lifetime of the machine in normal use. Unlike a conventional vacuum cleaner belt we wouldn't usually expect it to need replacing, and therefore it's not designed to be accessible to the User.

If your DC27's brush bar won't rotate this may be caused by something simple, and we should be able to help you resolve this with some simple troubleshooting checks over the phone.

When you have your machines easily to hand, please give the Dyson Customer Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

We'll look forward to providing further assistance.

The suction is working but the brush will not turn so the bits are left on the carpet

Hi Liz, it's Jack at Dyson.

Like most Dyson upright vacuums, DC27's brush bar is engineered to shut off for protection if something jams it. To check for any issues and to reset your machine, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide:

A bought a second hand dyson and the brushes r going very slow should they be like that

Hi Michele, it's Jack at Dyson.

When DC27 is reclined and set to 'carpet' mode, the brush bar should rotate rapidly. If it's rotating slowly or seems to be stalling, something could be jamming the brush bar. Try checking the cleaner head for any obstructions and removing any threads, hair or other debris from around the brush bar. If you're confident you can't see anything creating the issue, it's possible the machine is damaged, or the brush control clutch mechanism may be worn.

If you'd like some further advice from our experts on resolving this, you're welcome to contact us directly on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

How do I adjust the power cam locationpower cam on a dc27

Hi Charles, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC27 is engineered to adjust automatically for different floor types - there is no way of manually adjusting the height of the wheels or brush bar. The vacuum may need higher push force on certain types of deep pile carpeting. We would recommend checking directly with the carpet manufacturer for their advice on caring for this particular carpeting - manfacturers may recommend vacuuming some carpets with the brush bar turned off, and it may be worth giving this a try.

To turn off the brush bar, just use the brush control switch next to the red on/off switch:

Replace dc27 brushbar

Hi Roger, it's Jack at Dyson.

It would be very unusual for DC27's brush bar to need replacing in normal use. With the vacuum turned off and unplugged, turn the machine over and run a flat edge (such as the edge of a business card) across the opening of the soleplate. As long as the bristle tufts make contact with the edge of the card, the brush bar will still work effectively.

It's also worth removing any threads, hair or other debris from the brush bar to ensure it's working effectively, as shown in the illustration below. Please note it's not necessary to remove the brush bar to clean it.

If you still feel the brush bar needs replacing, our experts are best placed to offer further advice. You can reach them directly by calling on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Carpet beater not working

It could be one of many things: switch in handle or switch in motor compartment, brush bar restricted, broken belt, bad brush bar motor or loose wire on any of the above

Dyson DC27 brush drum fails to rotate. Belt is fine.

Dc27 has a motor to spin the brush. It might be the brush bar motor or the power switch to the brush bar motor.

Brushes dyson

If you are talking about the beater bar brushes. I replaced mine and had to order them online , also there is a transmission they call it which is like a clutch on a cordless drill, where it will ratchet or skip when it binds up, My problem was the beater bar brushes were wore down. to change this remove plastic bottom cover and then work the bar out (this stretches the belt ) so it takes some strength to get it out, I would suggest replacing the belt also if you are doing this,I also ordered it with the brush bar at same time. If it's the motor (electric) brushes you are talking about , I have not encountered a problem with those yet. I hope this helps you out and don;t forget to rate it thumbs up ! thanks
