Re: Excel

I THINK what he is trying to say

you do not want the cell on the sales form to show an error message, instead not to show anything. It has been awhile for excel but i believe if you right click the cell and goto properties you can change what it should show.

Excel cell replacement

To have the contents of the cell change from something you input into something else, you would need to put in a macro using VBA. You'll need someone who knows VBA to help with that.

OR... It is a lot easier to get similar results, if you are ok with using a few more cells to do it. The item# will remain where it was entered, and the product name will have to go in a different cell. In that case, you can use a lookup formula.

To do this, lets say your item# is entered in cell 'Sheet1'!C1, and you want the product_name to display in cell 'Sheet1'!D1. On another sheet (lets say sheet2) In cells 'Sheet2'!A1:B5 input the item#'s in the first column (column A1:A5) and input the matching product-names in column B1:B5. This is your lookup data. This sheet can be hidden if you want In cell 'Sheet1'!D1, use a vlookup formula that will look at the item# and find a match in the list, and display the product name for you. =vlookup('Sheet1'!C1,'Sheet2'!$A$1:$B$5,2,false)
This will display N/A# if the number can't be found.

How to do profit and loss a/c in ms excel

Hi saleem_share,
I'm not sure why you would want to use excel to create a P&L, but the same formula would apply to excel as it would for a standard P&L. In one section of the spreadsheet add all of your income accounts. Then Subtract your cost of sales from that. That would equal your Gross Profit. After that add all the rest of your Expenses, and subtract from the Gross Profit, which would give you your net Profit or Loss Example:
Sales Product A

Sales Product B

Total Sales
Cost of Sales Product A

Cost of Sales Product B

Total Cost of Sales
Gross Profit

Office Supplies

Total Expenses

Net Profit

I hope this helps

Excel lookup - match index array

The best solution may be to re-define the named columns, or to add new names to multi-column arrays, then use the VLOOKUP function.
Note that the "indexed" named cells must be sorted by the index column.

Step1. Start Microsoft Excelmag-glass_10x10.gif and open the file you want to change. Step2. Double-click on the cell where you want the total to appear. Step3. Press the = key on the keyboard. This tells Excel that you are entering a formula into the cell. Step4. Enter the formula, then press Enter. Follow the steps below for an example. Step5. Enter an opening parenthesis character: (. Step6. Enter a cell name. For example: =(E2. Step7. Press the + key. Step8. Enter another cell name and a closing parenthesis character: ). For example: =(E2+E3). Step9. Enter a minus sign and a third cell name. For example: =(E2+E3)-E4. Step10. Press the Enter key to accept the formula. The cell will display the sum of the first two cells minus the third cell. $('.Article .Steps .Image').each(function(i,e){ e = $(e); e.find('img').error(function(){ $(this).unbind(); e.remove(); }); });
Tips & Warnings
  • Formulas are just equations. Instead of adding or subtracting numbers you are adding and subtracting the contents of a cell.
  • Excel includes a number of predefined functions to use as well. You can combine the predefined functions into your own formula. (See "How to Use Provided Excel Formulas.")
I hope it helps!!!

Exel 2003

You can refer to cells that are on other worksheets by perpending the name of the worksheet followed by an exclamation point (!) to the cell reference. In the following example, the AVERAGE worksheet function calculates the average value for the range C1:C10 on the worksheet named Marketing in the same workbook.

default.aspx?assetid=za010939481033 Refers to the worksheet named Marketing default.aspx?assetid=za010939491033 Refers to the range of cells between C1 and C10, inclusively
  1. Click the cell in which you want to enter the formula.
  2. In the formula bar (formula bar: A bar at the top of the Excel window that you use to enter or edit values or formulas in cells or charts. Displays the constant value or formula stored in the active cell.) default.aspx?assetid=za060515351033, type = (equal sign).
  3. Click the tab for the worksheet to be referenced.
  4. Select the cell or range of cells to be referenced.
