Make sure you put the brush back in right. Try running the PN with out the brush installed. See if it has good power.

The motor runs but the brush does not . I have checked motor in brush head and it runs

Hey, this is Jeremy with Crucial Vacuum,

I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your Dyson vacuum. There are a few potential reasons as to why your vacuum brush is not spinning. First, the belt may not be attached completely to the brush and as such may not be spinning. If this is the case simply readjust the belt so that it is aligned both on the brush and the motor.

Second, it may be related to the brushroll. Check to make sure that there is nothing clogged in the bristles or lodged in the bearings preventing it from spinning. You should regularly clean this area out to make sure your vacuum is running optimally.

You can purchase replacement parts for your Dyson direct from Crucial Vacuum with free shipping and an exclusive 10% coupon for Fixya.com readers, use code: FIXYA10

I have a Dyson dc17 I have changed the belt cleaned the brush bar clean the bar motor reset the switch and still when i vacuum the brush bar just stops does not rattle. does not do it on bare floors or...

hooked rugs produce the highest amount of friction opposing the brush rotation, which can over heat the drive motor. try using a height setting that raises the brush so that it barely touches the pile. If this issue has been going on for some time, you may need to replace the drive motor.

could be the bearings on the end of brushbar need replacing,or it may be the clutch needs setting , lower the handle down to the floor then up again do this about three time to reset clutch....

Brush stopped spinning

If you've had the brush out to clean it you need to re-set the trip switch which is a red button at the right side of the brush simply press it in till it clicks.

The brush bar on my Dyson DC17 stopped turning.

If this model has a brush control - i.e a roller at the side of the model which controls brush to spin or not, then its a protected brush model - therefore even if the drive belt is intact the Dyson would have to be repaired by a service personnel or professional. The brush protection isn't able to be taken apart and sounds like it may well have slipped off due to tension.
