Hi, I think maybe the quickest and easiest thing for you to try is to unplug your printer from the computer, turn on your computer and uninstall the software (usually through the "Add/Remove Program" option in the "Control Panel" or "Settings" menu.)

Then restart your computer. If you have the installation guide for your printer then just check whether you have to install the software first before you actually attache the printer. If not then turn off your computer and plug in the printer then restart the system. Windows should find the printer automatically and either install it or ask you for the installation software.
Let the software install and accept all default options as to where it installs to etc.

When it is done restart the computer, hopefully the printer should work ok now. When you go on the Internet if a window pops up and says anything about updating your Printer Driver, just say "No" or "Cancel".
