Hi, sometimes the wire gets stuck when feeding through at the copper welding electrode tip piece.. Try unscrewing the welding tip on the welding hand piece to make sure the wire is not getting stuck there. If the wire come through with the tip removed, then screw the tip back on over the wire. See if the wire will feed through a meter or two untill it hits the welding tip.

SOURCE: I have a miller 180 autoset that does not feed the wire

If your welder is less than 3 years old your local Miller authorized service center will repair it for FREE. They can also check the serial number of your welder over the phone to see if it is still in warranty. For goodness sake DON'T tell them you've been mucking around inside the welder or they won't be able to help you.
That said, if the welder spins the feed wheels without any wire between them it probably isn't the board. There is the switch in the gun, the board, and the motor and brake assembly all needed to feed the wire.

SOURCE: hobart handler 140 will not feed wire

A schematic would certainly help, give Hobart a call and ask for a wiring diagram. or manual. Hobart are very helpful and may even give you guidance, you may have to pay the postage, they usually fax these documents so it will not cost you anything.

SOURCE: Wire feed not working Miller 250 mig welder

Hi there,
If the knob spins all the way around (and especially of it didn't always do that), it's broken. This could mean that the nut that holds the rheostat in place has come loose, or it could be that the wiper inside the rheostat has broken off the shaft. To find the voltage measurements, correct schematics, etc, I'd need to know the serial number of your welder.

Regards,
Carl

SOURCE: Wire does not feed on MIG welder

my lincoln mig welder did the same exact thing!! I thought what you did, drive motor bad. But it wasn't, on mine there is a reset/breaker button, it's like a 25 amp fuse that can be reset, it was bad! so I took the 2 wires that went in and out of it and jumped them together (not advised) to see if it would work then. BINGO!! now I have to find replacement. Look inside for a fuse or some thing like that.
hope this helps, oh yeah, when I ask the mechanic at the welding store he said that drive motors rarely go bad!!

SOURCE: My hobart 135 will not feed wire.

does it have a reset button? if so it has gone bad, if not there is a fuse or something inside. they protect that circuit against shorting at the working end of the gun. happens ALL the time.

I have a Hobart 251 mig welder and when I turn it on the wire comes out of the the gun and won't stop till I shut it off ?

If the wire feed on your Hobart 251 MIG welder won't stop when you turn it on, there could be a few possible causes. Here are a few things to check:
  1. Check the trigger on the MIG gun: Make sure that the trigger on the MIG gun is not stuck or damaged. If the trigger is stuck in the "on" position, it will cause the wire to continuously feed.
  2. Check the wire feed motor: The wire feed motor could be faulty or jammed, causing the wire to feed continuously. Try disconnecting the wire feed motor from the welder and see if the wire still feeds. If it does not, then the motor is likely the problem.
  3. Check the wire spool: Make sure that the wire spool is installed correctly and is not jammed or tangled. If the wire is not feeding smoothly from the spool, it could cause the wire to feed continuously.
  4. Check the wire feed control settings: Ensure that the wire feed control settings are set correctly. If the wire feed speed is set too high, it could cause the wire to feed continuously.
If none of these solutions resolve the issue, it may be best to contact a qualified technician or the manufacturer for further assistance.

Settings to weld 2.5mm mild steel with rossi 130amp mig welder

set the volts to around 20 and then adjust the wire speed to obtain a good arc
wire feed speed also adjusts the volts but you have to in the area as the feed is like a fine tune
adjust the volts up or down to get a good weld
practice on scrap to get it right

My Hobart 140 will not get hot enough to make a weld. It will feed out the wire, make a spark, and the flux core wire will melt on top of the thin rouaght iron square tube fence but it will not melt into...

Hi:
Sounds like you have the wrong polarity in your machine. If you are using flux core wire, make sure to connect your ground clamp to the positive side and your gun to the negative side. Dial the right voltage and wire speed according to wire size and metal thickness.Let me know if this help.

Wire does not feed but you can hear a click inside the welder when you press the trigger.

Does the feed wheel move? If so adjust it's tension on the wire. If not, check for voltage at the motor. If there is voltage and no rotation, check for continuity of the winding, there should be less than 5000 ohms. If no continuity replace motor. If continuity- oil the shaft with light motor oil and see if it releases.

If no voltage is measured at motor connections, the fault is on the speed control board. check the fuse, and if that is okay, check the SCR(s) and replace if faulty.

I have a century wire weed welder 225 amp. As soon as I flip the power switch the wire feed motor goes on full speed and is not adjustable. This happens with the trigger switch disconnected. I checked...

it will be a problem relay that turns the feed motor on when the trigger is pressed
that relay is either permanently energized from the board or has failed and the points are stuck together

My white speedylock 1600 is being difficult.. The top threads lay and look perfect.. but the bottom threads are loose.. What can I do about this?

This machine has differential feed (top tension is different from bottom and fabric feed rate can be different from bottom). turn the dials for tension and feed rates to adjust. Adjust bottom tension to tighten bottom threads and possibly speed up bottom feed rate. Tough to say without more info.

Good luck and please rate me.

From White Sewing web site.

"Are wavy fabrics making you seasick? Do puckers leave a sour taste in your mouth? Then you need differential feed. It eliminates distortion and wavy seams when serging knits, plus it prevents puckers and pulled seams on lightweight fabrics. Turn the dial again for instant gathers.
