Lexmark x6170 alignment problems

Lexmark x6170 not printing properly. added new ink and will not print properly' printer say aligment troubles.

Is the ink generic brand or lexmark brand?

Lexmark x6170 not printing magenta

Print quality issues could be due to dirty or clogged print cartridge nozzles. Please follow the steps below to improve the print quality:
On the printer operator panel:
  1. Press Copy.
  2. Press Options until Maintenance appears on the display.
  3. Press the right arrow until Clean Cartridges appears on the display.
  4. Press Select. A nozzle page prints, forcing ink through the nozzles to clean the clogged nozzles.
  5. Print your document again to verify that your print quality has improved.
Using the Lexmark Solution Center:
  1. Click Start > Programs > Lexmark X6100 Series > Lexmark X6100 Series All-In-One Center.
  2. From the Maintenance tab, click Clean to fix horizontal streaks.
  3. Click Print. A nozzle page prints, forcing ink through the nozzles to clean the clogged nozzles.
  4. Print your document again to verify that your print quality has improved.
If the problem continues, try to insert a different known working cartrdidge or better yet replace it with a new genuine Lexmark cartridge.

I have a Lexmark x6170 all in one printer. I have never had any problems until recently. I bought a Toshiba laptop and installed my Lexmark. I purchased new cartridges from Staples Office Supply and...

Run the printer software to do an "alignment" -- basically, it prints one page,
and then you scan the page, and the printer reads the printed page, to measure the "offset"
from where the BLACK versus the COLOUR ink prints. It will then electronically adjust the printer.

I am unable to find color ink for my lexmark x6170. Additionally, are all the inks the same (quality)?

Lexmark X6170 uses these two ink cartridges: -
Black Print Cartridge (18L0032E)
Colour Print Cartridge (18LX042E)
It is highly recommended that you use the original cartridges as the cartridges and ink vary from printer to printer.
However, if you are unable to find the cartridges, you may look for refilling option.

Alignment of cartridges

To align the cartridge from the control panel:

Please follow the steps given below:

1. Please Load a plain paper.
2. Press and hold the "Scan" button for three seconds.
3. An alignment page prints.
4. Place the alignment page onto the scanner glass.
5. Press the "Scan" button.
6. Once scanning is complete, the cartridge has been aligned for optimal print quality. Alignment must be complete before continuing with any print jobs.

New cartridges - printer not printing

Align your cartridges to solve print quality problems such as: • Characters are not properly formed or are not aligned at the left margin. • Vertical, straight lines are wavy. 1 Load paper in the paper support. 2 On the control panel, press Copy. 3 Press Options until Maintenance appears. 4 Press the right arrow until Align Cartridges appears, and then press Select. An alignment page prints. Once this page prints, your automatic alignment is complete.

Won't Print Color

Check and make sure the box for Print all in black; has not been selected for your printer. Make sure the ink cartridge nozzles are not clogged and that the ink cartridge has been aligned correctly. Hope this helps.

Lexmark X6170 Not Printing on Left Side of Paper?

If the pages printed from the printer directly comes out OK then you may need to update the driver for the printer. If the pages printed directly from the printer menu have the same problem then contact Lexmark again explaining everything you've done. If the person is still not helpful ask to speak with someone who is more able to assist you. Hopefully still under warranty.

Color cartridge message

Hi Marty, naughty printer. It is not reading your new cartridge. Clean your printer with own program and if this faild do it youself with cotton tips and proper cleaning solution. Try printing now. Dn't forget to reset ink and cartridge settings for new ones. cheers lilac gerry xxx

The black cartbridge is not printing and won't align

Dies this model have a separate print head? Or is the head part of the cartridge? If it is the latter then it seems to be a data transfer problem- which means possibly the contacts in the machine that mate with the contacts on the cartridge are dirty or damaged. In the first instance try gentle rubbing with a moist tissue the in machine contacts then try. Also try the Lexmark website Tech Support Team.
