Try this:
Click Start, then internet explorer, then tools, then internet options, advanced tab, reset button, a new window appears then reset, close Ok.

Is it printing multiple pages with just a line or two of weird symbols? Usually thats a problem with the software. If your using windows go to "start'...then "printers and faxes". It should show the printer your using as the default. (You'll see a little check mark over it). Right click on that printer...go to properties...print test page. If that comes out normal then its not the printer its what your trying to print with it.

This can be the result of a corrupted font or a corrupted printer driver. Though it is a bit dated, please use this article to help you troubleshoot the source of the problem (even though you are not using word, it will help.) It may be necessary to reinstall the printer driver.
If you're in xp, you may first wish to try deleting all print jobs and clearing the print spooler cache. See instructions here.
If you need to download the latest printer driver from HP, you can do that by clicking here and choosing your OS. Here's a guide to updating drivers if you want a tutorial for that.
Finally, here are some troubleshooting links that may help in the event that the previous didn't work, or you wish for more detailed instructions.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

Print out boarding pass how?

I assume you were sent a Email that contains your boarding pass info and printed copy can be used to show confirmation and details . If this is the case you should have a icon or a printer picture that represents a printer somewhere on your email page usually along the top of the page along with other symbols that represent particular tasks that are useful , or it might be in a list running down the side of your page , there are many email type programs and not knowing what your using I am just stating the average page sett up ,If you dont manage to find where it says print the other options are look at your keyboard for the print screen tab usually next to insert and pause break tabs try pushing that print screen tab or CTRL+ P can usually print the screen (in google chrome) If you are using gmail to receive Emails you just need to look at the heading or subject matter of the email and on the same line that the heading is printed on you will see on the right hand part of your screen usually directly under these two symbols < > , so if you point your mouse over that area the words PRINT will appear every time your mouse pointer passes over the print icon or symbol .

Prints jibberish

Hi Anna,

This is because of corrupted Printer Drivers. You have to uninstall and reinstall your Printer Drivers. Either from the Printer disk or from www.hp.com website.

Check to make sure if all files are printing symbols or if it's just from one program. For example. If you print emails, Microsoft Word documents, and Internet articles, do they all come out as symbols?
If they all do, then I suggest re-installing the printer's device drivers and doing a complete power cycle, which means completely unplugging the printer and leaving it off for two minutes.
If it's just one program, you can re-install that one program. So if it's Microsoft Word that is giving you the bad printouts, re-install Microsoft Word.

HP pcs 1610 won't print words. Prints symbols instead.

Try creating the document on another program. If that does not work try to find software from another site HP should have all the software and updates on a current download file. You should not have interference with the download, if so there may be a quirk in your computer somewhere.
