Question about Nikon (1820807499) (7x35) Binocular
I have a Nikon 7x50 7.2 deg binoculars with compass and lighted dial. I have no initial paperwork and need to put a battery in it for backlight. What type of battery is needed?
The screw you removed holds the battery cover in place. The cover is roughly rectangular with rounded corners. Once the screw is out, gently insert a sharp blade into the hairline crack between the cover and the binocular body and pry the cover off. The two watch batteries will be obvious.

How to use the reticle:
The vertical scale (reticle) visible through the left half of the binocular, above the compass display, allows you to calculate distance to an object if you know its height, or to calculate the height of an object if you know its distance from you.
Each mark on the vertical scale has a value of 5 MIL (1Mil is equivalent to an angel that can determined an object one meter in height at a distance of 1000 meters). Therefore, if a navigation chart gives the height of an object, by sighting on it and counting the number of MILS, you can determine how far away it is.
To Measuer distance when height is known:
Object Height(m)/Scale Reading x 1000m=Distance in Meters
To Measure height when distance is known:
Distance(m)xScale Reading/1000=Object height in meters

The battery compartment is on the front of the binoculars next to the large lens (objective). It takes 2 batteries + side up as mentioned either
LR 43 or number 186 alkaline or silver oxide number 389 or SR54.
Be careful as there is a small metal clip holding them in place.
You can go to Tascos website and download the intruction manual. It is the same for the OS36 and OS54.

They were isued to the German army. My father bought a pair from a destitute soldier sitting on the wharf in Hamburg in 1945. I want to sell them now, but dont know what they are worth.
