Re: electric starter gas oven model jgrp17 won't heat

More than likely your glow bar ignitor has stopped working or at least pulling enough amps to open the safety valve. The floor of the ovens come out may have a couple screws toward the back. take the floor out if a diffuser is on top of the burner remove it. the glow bar ignitor is mounted on the burner turn the oven on and watch it should glow bright red and in about 30 secs open the gas safety valve. If it does not glow you may want to verify power to the ignitor, more than likely the ignitor is the problem. If it glows but does not open the safety valev still replace the ignitor not pulling the required amps to open the safety valve. just put a little dish soap on the screws to the ignitor to help from srtripping them out

GE Profile Stove baking option not working

Possibly the bake igniter, the temperature sensor or the electronic oven clock/control. Does broil mode heat properly or does it run cool also? If broil heats to the proper temperature then the temperature sensor is probably ok. That leaves the ignitor or the controller which takes some more troubleshooting. If it is the controller, we repair them at

The lower oven ignighter does not glow

I had the same problem and swapped the oven igniter with the broiler igniter and the oven now works. This proved the oven igniter itself was the fault, now I have to replace the broiler igniter with a new one(which is much easier to get to).

FYI: An igniter may glow red and still not allow the oven to work. The igniter has to draw a certain amount of electrical current for the main gas valve to open.

The problem is our over which I think is a GE JGRP17 Gas Single Oven based on descriptions on this site, the stove burners and broiler are working but the regular oven won't work, the igniter doesn't glow...

the problenm is in the ignitor. there is a possibly a break in the ignitor to where there is no continuity in. I would buy a new ignitor and then shut off the gas to the oven and replace the ignitor. That will solve your problem. Have a Merry Christmas and thank you for using FixyA!!

Gas Oven doesn't work under 450 degrees

most common issue is a bad bake ignitor, easy fix, probalby about $75, located on the side of the bake burner, simple to replace a few screws and 2 wires

Gas stove

The JGRP17 (not a full model number) does not have a pilot light. It uses glow bar ignitors. Watch the burner at the top of your oven when you turn on broil. After a short time the glow bar ignitor begins to glow, and a short time after that the broiler burner should ignite. The same thing should happen with the oven burner under the floor of the oven when you attempt to bake. If the igniter does not glow, or glows and burner does not light, replace ignitor. (looks like part # WB2X9154)

Replace the oven glow bar igniter. If you post an exact model number (located on sticker behind lower drawer) I can give you a part number.
