Memory cards unfortunately do fail after some time, all flash memory has a limit to how many times it can be written and rewritten. If it is an official Sony memory card these usually last a lot longer, but even they will fail eventually. If it is a third party, non-Sony brand memory card, they usually die much much faster. So sorry to hear about that, luckily a new one at gamestop or elsewhere should be around $5 or less most places.

When i turn on my camera it says the memory card needs formatting i follow the instructions but it doesnt work and keeps saying to format the memory card. this happens over and over and i cannot take...

To understand the photo loss situation, consider a scenario: You format a memory card in Digital Camera, and start to capture some pictures. However, while capturing pictures, your camera shuts down due to low battery. Now, after recharging battery, when you try to access those photograph on the card, you receive the following error message on camera screen:

The Card requires formatting: Additionally, the camera is unable to capture any new photographs.

The main cause for the above error message is corruption of memory card due to conking of battery while a read/write operation was running.

These memory card needs to be formatted before you save any new pictures. It is always a good practice to take backup of card and format it before use. This enables you to fight with any damage done to the memory card and to erase the old data saved on the card. However, the probability of card getting corrupted again (after you have saved new data) still exists.

First try formating with an external SD Card reader connected at PC and test it.

I bought a new ps2 and a datel 32mb card and the game i put in says there is no memory card,

Try these steps. If this doesn't work you may want to take the card to Game Stop or something and have them test it to see if it's working. Hope this helps!

  1. Insert the Memory Card into the PlayStation 2 console. The port is located directly above the controller port. Note that there are two different memory card ports; there is no difference between the two. Some games, however, will attempt to auto-load from slot one so it is recommended that you keep your memory card inserted in slot one.
  2. Plug your controller into the PlayStation 2. Power up the system without a PS2 disc inserted. You will be taken to the system menu screen. Select the "Memory Card" menu to examine any data on the card. If the memory card is new there should be no data on the card, if it is used you may see old saves from the previous owner on the card. If you no longer desire to keep these saves, you may highlight them and press the "Triangle" button to delete them.
  3. Insert your PlayStation 2 game disc into the system. When the disc appears on the system menu, select it. Load the game, and play until you are prompted to either create a user profile, or to save your game. Once you have saved any data to the memory card, reset the system.
  4. Select the "Memory Card" menu and examine your memory card. You should see a new icon representing your game's save data. If this data appears on the card, you have correctly set-up your PS2 Memory Card.

If the data does not appear on the card, you will need to format the card. If the system detects corrupt data on the card it will automatically open a prompt asking if you would like to format the memory card. Select "Yes" and the PlayStation 2 will format the card.

My Playstation 2 memory card has corrupted data.

well, if it only does this error for one game then maybe the problem is in the game itself? Is the CD a real one? or is it copied with a golden back?
if it is copied then such things can definitely happen.

Memory Card Corrupted

you cannot save another file until you delete previous one.Corruption occurs if the memory card is removed from console or if you reset the game while saving or loading game remember this also happens when you are saving or loading game and electricity turns off.
