Replace the remote? Oh Really???!!! Duh. The battery compartment is located at the base of the remote. It is a pull out tray. Simply stick your thumb nail between the pull out tray and the body of the remote and it will come out easily and you can replace the battery.
If the supplied owners manual does not specify how to replace the battery, contact Yamaha. worst case you'll have to purchase another remote, sorry!

I believe techman is right about it not working with your laptop. However, you don't need to contact your computer's manufacturer for information on a remote that will work.

SOURCE: Disassemble or open the remote control Sony RM-YD035
if Sony Remote RM-YD035 does not change channels or turn off TV, the buttons got dirty coz those are you most used buttons.
You can repair Sony Remote RM-YD035 yourself. It's quite easy and fast, with perfect result!
To disassemble or open the remote control Sony RM-YD035, first remove a single screw in the battery compartment. Then use a very thin but strong screwdriver and insert it between top cover and the body at the back part of the battery compartment. Move the screwdriver up and down and slowly move it to the left and to the right and continue along the perimeter. Use two or three such screwdrivers and in 2-4 minutes the top cover plate with buttons will separate from the body/bottom/casing.
Clean both parts thoroughly. And then gently put them back together in the opposite order. The parts will snap closing.
You are done.
Mine is now working perfectly
