Question about Maytag Atlantis MDE7400AY Electric Dryer

Maytag Atlantis dryer

The dryer is making a high pitch noise. I think it is the belt or belt tensioner. But how do you get access to it.

It sounds like an issue with the drum belt tensioner or the tensioner wheel.

I just cleaned and greased the rollers for the drum when it was making a load high pitched noise. Now it makes a different noise and the drum won't even turn. What should I be looking at?

I would make sure the belt is on correctly. I'm assuming (darn me for assuming) you removed the tub? if so, did you see how the belt goes on the pulley? remember the fiber faces up and the pulley puts tension on the belt

Maytag electric dryer is making a high pitched noise

The squealing noise is from the belt tensioner. Replace the pulley only on the tensioner along with a new belt. The bearing in the pulley is causing the squeal. Sears will sell this in a kit. The top and the front panel of the dryer will have to be removed to replace these parts

Dryer making a high pitch squeeling sound when

The idler bearing that keeps tension on the belt is going out due to heat leaching the grease out of it. Have it replaced.

My Maytag Atlantis Gas Dryer makes a loud noise when it is running. It works fine except for the noise. I have had the dryer about 5 yrs and this noise just started several days ago.

is it a high pitch noise. Like a noise that sounds similar to a old freddy cruger movie when the little girl on the tricycle passing by. If it sounds like that, then maybe you idler pully needs to be oiled..the idler pully is what keeps tension on the belt and lets the belt rotate smoothly. just like a pully. That maybe needs to be oiled..try doing that and see that works.

Dryer makes a whining noise when drying

The belt is not the problem but more likely the drum rollers or drum bearing will need to be replaced.

Definitely need more info. However, probable causes:

1. Broken/worn drive belt - replace belt.
2. Loose piece of debris between the inner drum and outer shell. - remove any alien/non-standard part/s found.

Both require access to the back/top of the unit. Standard tools may be required.

CAUTION: Ensure unit is unplugged before opening any cover. Most appliances are mass produced. As such be aware, units tend to have sharp edges inside.
