The cable for the release lever might be stretched or broken. You have to get the tiller cover off to access it.

  • kenb486 Aug 19, 2018

Thanks so much. I took the tiller stem apart and there was nothing attached to the locking lever. I am assuming there is a broken cable somewhere down there. just can't find a diagram on how it is supposed to be hooked up or if broken how to replace it. any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. the tiller moves up and down freely. the shock inside working fine just will not stop in one position.

You can go to the manufacturers web site to get maintenance manuals that are more informative than the owners manual.

SOURCE: tilt steering stuck in down position.wont tilt forward.

I am sure you have tried this but put it all the way down and let it lock. Then try and pull it back up. The problem will be if it stays stuck. I would wiggle the wheel at the same time. May need a third hand to help.

Testimonial: "thanx. will try it."

What do I look for to fix the Power seats and power tilt steering has no power

A control module ! Electronics The steering column has a tilt/telescoping control system that consists of an electronic control module capable of class 2 serial data communication, a steering column power assembly with positioning motor and sensor, and a steering column control switch. The multi-function lever provides for the control of the headlamp high beams, and the windshield washer and wiper.
The tilt/telescoping steering column in/out/up/down switch is an input to the driver position module (DPM). The tilt/telescoping drive motor is an output function of the DPM.
Steering column memory settings are stored in the DPM. The steering column position sensor is an internal part of the tilt/telescoping motor assemblies, and is an input to the DPM. The DPM uses the position sensor input when storing and recalling memory settings.
Same thing with the seats , electronic control module .
Battery positive voltage is supplied at all times to the memory seat module (MSM) through the battery positive voltage circuit from the POWER SEATS circuit breaker located instrument panel (I/P) fuse block. This voltage is used to power up MSM and also to apply power to the seat motors when commanded. Battery positive voltage from the TILT/TELE SW/MEM SEAT MOD fuse located in the body control module (BCM) fuse block that supplies voltage to the seat adjuster switch and the memory function switch, also supplies voltage to the MSM. The MSM monitors this voltage circuit in order to determine if battery voltage is supplied to the seat adjuster switch. The MSM is grounded through the module ground circuit and G301.

Camshaft is broke in my xerox phaser 8560 mfp

7,010.43: The Printhead is stuck in the tilted position, or is not able to tilt forward to the print position, due to problems.
Yhe usual problem with this model is the process motor, that brakes down and needs replacement. I'm afraid you can't replace it yourself as it takes alignment and timing adjustments

07,010.43 indicates the printhead is stuck in the tilted position, or is not able to tilt forward to the print position. This is a problem that I would recommend you have a Xerox Certified Technician check and repair. (This is not a do-it-yourself type of repair)

Tilt steering wheel has lots of play in 1988 c3500. So bad my ignition key is stuck in on position. Do i have to replace entire column?

The tilt housing inside the column is bolted on with 4 screws. They have came loose causing your delimma. Have a trusted repairman fix this for you for the air bag system is no task for the unqualified novice

How do I fix my tilt steering wheel that is stuck in the down position.

Follow these steps:
1. Disconnect the battery by removing the negative wire-you don't want the airbag to get activated while you are working
2. Remove everything around the steering and ignition area. You would have to remove two screws under the column area
3. You will notice that some gears are on top of the column and the tilt release teeth. When you lift up these gears or teeth, the steering can be moved
4. Ensure that the linkage is maintained between the top gear and the lever-simply pull the lever and see if it is raising the top gear
5. If you feel it is stuck, spray on some WD40 to drive away any present rust or debris. Also, move the steering up and down, and alongside move the lever which is present behind the indicator lever
6. If still it is not solved, use a Philips-head screwdriver to raise the geards manually, and position them in the right place

Stuck electric tilt steering - Is there a manual over ride?

My 2002 millenia did the same thing. My mechanic friend had me take a screw drive and go under the steering wheel where there is an opening and tap up in there. Then my steering wheel came back down. I did however turn off the auto after that. The motor is going bad.

Xerox 8400 error 07.010.43:52882

7,010.43: The printhead is stuck in the tilted position, or is not able to tilt forward to the print position, due to problems.
Do the printhead lock arms rotate correctly.
Has ink spilled ink around the printhead that prevents the printhead from moving to its center position? You should be able to manually push the printhead right to left.
Does the X-axis motor drive the printhead to it’s center position (so it can tilt forward)?
1. Check the process gearbox for obstructions
or damaged.
2. Ensure the gears are correctly aligned and
homed.
3. Verify the process shaft and drive module
shaft are at their home positions.
Has ink spilled on the head tilt gear on its drive train (near left side of the printhead).

96 chevy monte carlo 3.1 wont start

check to see if the wire is broken for the passlock/passkey system in the ignition lock cylinder, its common for the copper wire to seperate inside the insulation, when you tilt the column it could have been pushing the wires together enough to touch inside the insulation
