Problem for Acer Aspire? 3050-1733 (LX.AXE0Y.122) PC Notebook

Awhile back my father was on his laptop and he was surfing the web, without know he had a "Major" virus and his whole file sys, was deleted, every time he tried to boot it up, it shows "Acer" then after that passes it shows, missing boot.exe

I have tried installing vista and windows xp 2005 media center on it, but both os's had failed.

my only guess is that the hardware may be damaged.

- my father deleted the partion, then tried to install vista, but it keeps on saying it can't install the rest of the files that are needed. this labtop is new and can run vista home basic fine. but the installation's i did always stop and say they can't continue.

During the windows installation, did you delete the partition, recreate the partition, format, then reinstall?

Sometimes viruses can last through reformats, but deleting the whole partition, then recreating it can fix the problem.
