1 Answer

Acer 3050 Awhile back my father was on his laptop and he was surfing the web, without know he had a "Major" virus and his whole file sys, was deleted, every time he tried to boot it up, it shows "Acer" then after that passes it shows, missing boot.exe I have tried installing vista and windows xp 2005 media center on it, but both os's had failed. my only guess is that the hardware may be damaged.

Re: Acer 3050

During the windows installation, did you delete the partition, recreate the partition, format, then reinstall?

Sometimes viruses can last through reformats, but deleting the whole partition, then recreating it can fix the problem.

Hi. My father gave me his Acer laptop 3012WTMi to look at. It had a major virus on it (not sure of name) but he then said I could keep it if I could reset the whole thing to XP. The recovery disc that...

I expect you will need to format the hard drive before you can put the XP disc that you have to use. The reason for that is the XP you have on the notebook is probably SP1/2or 3 and a newer version than the disc you have therefore the system will try and protect itself.
Have fun!

blue screen is a fatal warning in computer software, meaning the hardware setup is lacking or some shared file was deleted, on your laptop then press f8 then click safe mode, in your anti virus delete or clean bhdvrx86.sys ok or ----&gt; &lt;---- learn more<br />

Laptop is loading OS vista but doesnot open windows it seem to affect by virus nameof laptop acer aspire

There might be 3 options.

1. Restart notebook. Press F8. Enter in safe mode. Delete the file affected by virus and check whether that would solve the issue.Try running anti-virus if that would allow you.

2. Restore the system.Again enter in Safe Mode and restore the settings to back date.

3. Repair/Reinstall windows or Download registry files and add to the windows menu.

Any further help, let me know.

Thanks for using "Fixya".

Acer asoure 3050

The first thing that I would suggest, if you haven't done it already, is to clean up the system.

Go into your "Control Panel", select "Internet Options". Select "Delete Files" and make sure to check the box that says to delete off line files. After that is done (may take several seconds), select "Delete History" (again, this may take several seconds). You may also want to select "Delete Cookies). If you are on the internet a lot, you should be doing this house cleaning several times a month.

A second thought is to be sure that you have a good anti virus program running. If you need a couple of good and free anti virus programs, get back to me and I'll be happy to point you to them.
Cheers, and hope this helps!

Computer shut down

That is called the "blue screen of death". Another words your system crashed. Did you download any software, music, drivers or screen savers? If anything, what exactly did you download. If you just opened a web site, sounds like your may have gotten a virus. Try restarting and try to boot into "safe mode". Run your anti-virus making sure you turn off system restore first and delete all internet temp. files/ cookies/ and history. Delete your recycle bin/ restart and see if that takes care of the problem.
If you still can't boot without the BOD, try doing a system restore to the point before this started. Make sure to turn sys. restore back on once you solve the problem. If the blue screen comes up again, as soon as you see it hit pause on your keyboard and write down what it says; especially the error code; 0x0000008 etc.
