Just bought a garmin 660fm on ebay it seems to work ok for around 20-30 minutes and then switches off, when i turn the unit back on it shows only one bar on the battery indicator and swithes off shortly after. I make sure it is fully charged each time i set off do you think ther is a fault with the unit that is draining the battery or does the battery need replacing if so are replacement batteries available and are they difficult to fit. thanks. andy

you need a T5 security bit...thats a torx with a hole in the center to prevent tampering...they can be bought on ebay, least thats where i got mine. EBAY TORX LISTINGS

make sure you get the security bits or they wont work...i also recommend getting a few other sizes, like from 4-7 due to the poor quality of those screws, sometimes a 5 wont work and you either need a 4 or 6 because it seems no two are the same.

Same thing happened to me. Just bought it off Ebay. Had a little charge on it then tried to charge via the car, nothing, then by USB for some hours. Has now turned itself off and can't turn it on. Obviously a dud battery. Ebay seller is yet to get back to me.

Check the 12v power cord to make sure its still powering/charging the unit. Usually they have a light on them that will show if its receiving power or not. You can also unscrew the tip of those things (on most cables) and check the fuse to see if its blown. If its not lighting up and the fuse on the cable is ok check the one in your truck to see if it needs replacing.

If the cable is not the issue then the GPS is probably dead. If its not under warranty the flat rate repair fee from Garmin is $200

Book says should get satellite in cold. Goes on to saySearch the sky appr. 5 minutes. Same for autolocate.

You can go to Garmin and print out the owneers manual and that might help.

Also, antennas are cheap on Ebay.

what i do to fix crack garmin screen?

In February I posted that I will replace the cornice drive on my 2620 because I had this problem Well I did that, but could not fix the problem. Garmin is asking $275 to replace my unit, I did not wanted to pay them that much. So I bought a 2610 at eBay for a $100 and don't have to worry about hard drives any longer.
To get this screen on a GPS push "menu+find" and then turn on unit. It will show this diagnostic screen.
