Scotsman icemachine constantly freezing up no matter how small you put the setting?

Diagnostic Codes

• 1 - Long freeze time. Shutting down.
• 1 (flashing) - Retrying long freeze cycle.

• 3 - Water filling slowly.
• 4 - High discharging temperature.
• 5 - Failed sump temp sensor.
• 7 - Failed discharge temp sensor.
• 8 - Thin ice from short freeze cycle.
• 8 (flashing) - Retrying short freeze cycle.

go to the freeze timer which has off and on dip switches. take some freeze time out by moving the first switch to off this will shorten freeze time. Also check the harvest assist solenoid and plunger when it go's into harvest. make sure the machine is cleaned and check the cube plate to make sure that none of the plates are not loose this will cause ice to freeze between the loose spots and will not let ice come off the plate.

reduce the water pressure at the inlet valve so the trough fills up during harvest but doesn't overflow too much. There is a restrictor you can put in the valve entry, or you can just turn the tap to partly close it.

turn ice bridge thickness screw clockwise to thicken and counterclockwise to get thinner. Do not turn anymore than about 1/8 turn between freeze cycles. the adjustment screw is very finicky and requires patience in setting properly. the distance from the bridge thickness gauge to freeze platen is approximately 1/4 - 5/16 of an inch.

Hi; Need more info. Does the refridg. cycle on and off during the day. When You say no matter where You set the tstat concerns Me to think that the unit might be
runing all the time. Remember the coldest place in the refridgerator is the bottom. Excluding the freezer compartment. Also are the door gaskets in good condition this will also cause the unit to run more

timer not working properly replace if necessary

There is a cube size thermostat that energizes the timer. If it has been energizing early try a thicker setting on the cube size. If still gives problems ... your trouble was back in Feb I assume in cold weather.. If the machine is not in a room where the temp stays above 65'f this can also cause premature harvesting as you discribe also. Also if you are loosing water from the water curtian not sealing off it will cause the problem you discribe because the water is dripping off and out before it can freeze. Well it is making ice cubes alright just too thick right? I would give it a good cleaning with nickleguard and retry. If it is still doing the same thing I would replace the ice thickness switch.
