Like most Dyson vacuums, DC39 is engineered to shut itself down for protection if it starts to overheat. This will usually be due to a blockage, and the filter may also need a wash.

You should find the machine will reset itself after it's had at least three hours to cool down. But to prevent any damage to your vacuum, please give the filter a wash, and check for any blockages.

DC39's filter should be washed once every three months in normal use, as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow up to 24 hours for the filter to dry completely before replacing it.

Did you check the belt? A broken belt results in lower strain on the motor, causing it to run faster resulting in the faster speed and higher pitch. This could result in overheating, which will cause the motor to shut off.
If this isn't the problem you'll need to take it to the nearest Aerus Electrolux store for trouble-shooting and repair.

either the reset is bad or the motor is drawing too many amps and tripping the reset. Do you have an amp meter? Check the amps being pulled by the wand attatchment against the load recommended by the manufature, this is usually located on a plate somewhere either on the wand or the canister.

Hi, try pushing the reset button with a pen or paper clip. If that doesn't work, the motor may need to replaced. If the reset button is stuck, if the reset button is stuck, use a pair of tweezers to pull it back out......

Secondly, your belt can also be broken or has come off the pulley. Remove the bottom plate and investigate.

Hello, you can not reset the canister only the power head, if y ou picked up something and it got caught in the roller, it will shut the motor off, on top off the head is a red botton take a pen or something small to push the botton, and that will rest the powert head, if the canister is not running the cords go bad, and will need to be replaced. if your vacuum motor overheats, it will stop working. it will start working again once it cools.

its sounds like the problem is either the power head wire which when your using it and twisting it left and right, turns it off.. Or it could be in the hose where the connect meets with the unit.

Open up the power head and check the toothed corners where the power head sits - it sounds like thread has caught up at the sides which can only be removed by opening up the powerhead to clean it.

Replace bag with new,
Clear hose of any foriegn items & check floor tool for blockages.
