If you use your nose, you can smell where the problem is coming from. Just start sniffing, and locate the general winey smelling area. If it is a smaller part wining, you may need to taste the part along with some cheese and crackers to verify the wine. Once you have identified the suspect component, either start swapping parts and smell and taste the wine again or take the vehicle to a mechanic for a proper diagnosis and repair. Either way, you will eventually find the problem.

Trouble shooting 1997 F150 starting problem

Have you checked each connection between the battery and starter for 12 volts? It could be a weak battery, faulty starter, faulty solenoid, dirty cable connections, or weak battery cables.
A Ford product must have 11.5 volts or more to engage the starter.
