Re: songs were erased and replaced

The source of your problem is actually simple to avoid in the future... ITunes music library and settings is based upon the currently logged in user on the computer.

If your sister logged into her login on the computer and then you plug in your IPOD ITunes will update your IPOD with the songs selected in your sisters library.

Just make certain that you are logged into your login on the computer prior to connecting your IPOD.

Re: songs were erased and replaced

This isn't very much help i know but unforturnetly they''ve been replaced and you will not be able to get them back.

It's happened to me many of times it's horrible and fustrating all the hard work arganising them and one acksidental move can ruin everything.

Sorry my solution could not be much help.

I will try and make this as short as possible and hope you understand what I am asking. I just got an Ipod Classic last month and signed up with Itunes and then downloaded about 1300 songs from my cd...

You can't "backwards sync" (put music from your iPod back onto your computer) through iTunes. When you went to sync after you got your fixed computer back, I'm assuming iTunes tried to copy what was in iTunes (nothing) to your iPod, which probably is what caused these problems.

Assuming you still have the music on your iPod, I would recommend transferring the music from your iPod back to your computer (to a folder other than iTunes), restoring your iPod to factory settings, then moving all of the music files into iTunes and re-syncing your iPod.

There are two programs that are available to transfer songs from your iPod back onto your computer. The first is iDump and the second is YamiPod. I have found that iDump is the better of the two.
The link for iDump is:

Hope this helps!

Won't play the music copied from CD/Computer.

That was one cheap MP3 player. Can't you buy a larger iPod? What will you do with just 512MB? I have 2GB for RAM on my laptop computer.

30GB 5th gen ipod video does not play any songs

I have had the same problem on my sisters ipod. Unfortunately I could not fix it. You can take it down to the apple store and have their genius bar look at it, even though most of the time I know more about ipods than they do they will at least be aware the problem exists. I pulled the hard drive out and put it into another iPod to test it. The hard drive is fine. My best guess is that a transistor or something on the circuit board went bad and is not allowing for that function. What I did was sold it on eBay as broken for $86 bucks. I then went to and scrolled to the bottom left of the page and they sell refurbished ipods that appear new with the same warrenty as a new one. We bought my sister a 80GB classic for $179 minus the $86 we got from the broken one. It was nice to have the new one for less than a $100 total. It's either that or find someone that knows how to replace the circuit board which costs around $70 bucks used. Good luck.

Try restoring the ipod, this will erase all music from your ipod so make sure its backed up. it erases all of your ipods software and reinstalls it this will almost definitly fix your problem. if it doesnt, than the problem may be mechanical

contact me if my solutions doesnt work as hoped, or for further help.

Changed pc and new pc cannot work with ipod

You can download a developers version, not the final product of Songbird. It works just like itunes, but less problematic. It will allow you to "mount" the ipod as a disk, then you can save, the songs to your PC. It will ask you if you want to sync with it, just say no and you will be able to view the contents. I didnt make Songbird, I have just used it recently for the same problem. Best of Luck.

Unable to download songs

What kind of error message are you getting? Have you tried restoring the factory settings from iTunes? (that will erase the contents of the iPod though)
