My Tomtom one Europe won't turn on. Yes it is charged up and I've tried to turn it on whilst charging but no joy. Anyone any ideas what the problem might be?
You "MAY" have to flash the drive. To do this, just hold down the start button for approximately 15 secs. You'll then see a dark screen with different command strings listed, after doing this it should restart itself, if not, then just turn the unit off again & back on to see if it has corrected itself & boots up as normal.
If you search for "TomTom turns itself on", you will find that there appears to be a problem which TomTom will not acknowledge. Mine always turns itself back on exactly (to the minute) one week after being switched off and runs the battery down. Tomtom have got me to reformat and had it back for repair but the problem remains
try resetting it, if that doesnt work, connect your unit to tomtom
home. if you dont have tomtom home, follow the link at the bottom.
To reset your TomTom device, do the following:
Check that the battery is charged properly.
Charge your device for at least 2 hours before trying to turn it on again. Make sure the charging light on your device is on.
Remove the SD card
If your device uses an SD card, remove it.
Reset your device.
Use a straightened paper clip, or something similar, to push the reset
button for 15 seconds. See the pictures below for where to find the
reset button.
Turn your device on.
Press the On/off button for at least 5 seconds.
Insert the SD card
If your device uses an SD card, insert the SD card.
it may wel get power light on but if the battery has collapsed then it will take forever to accrue a minor amount of charge. USE the AC adaptor to charge it and see if whilst it is connected ( after hour) that you can turn it on and get a display. You could also get a new battery for it if it does respond. failure could indicate that battery acid has leaked and done damage, even Lion batteries break down

After some selections the unit should reboot and you check to verify unit after rebooting.Diagnostics Mode: Pressing and holding on the Trip Computer Speedometer (above) will bring up nine diagnostic pages.
There is no solution and TomTom does not car. I got a XL325 for Christmas. It turned itself on and if we didn't catch it in time it runs the battery down. Went through all sort of repairs with customer service (haha) uninstall and reinstall, repair scans, etc, Finally in April they had me send it in for repair and I got a XL320 refurbished one in return. Well, guess what it did the same thing and I had to go through all of the same things, I've spent hours on the phone with them. Well in June they told me to send it back and this time I got a XL310 in return. I think each time it is a cheaper model. Well, you guessed it this one turns itself on also. It doesn't matter where it is in the house or car, if it is not used it turns itself on. DO NOT BUY A TOM TOM, DO NOT BUY A TOM TOM.
