check speakers in main menus are not switched off or to external.

check to see if have sound when something (DVD etc) connected to a rear audio/video input.

The lamp of course will or should not affect the sound---next time it is cold try it on a rear input---a DVD player etc to see if same issue--this could narrow down where the problem is.

I have exactly the same problem. Did you manage to work around this?

With HDMI there should be no ghosting. And being a Sony Bravia it should be no ghosting. My 52" Sony is great.
You've got connection issues.

If you are looking for an owner's manual, you can download it from the Sony website for free. The service and training manuals that show the circuit diagrams and exploded views, you would usually need to purchase. Sony has them or other 3rd party companies carry them too but usually charge you around $20-30.

Well, I won't take the credit of others. Many people have the same problem as you do.
In the search box on the top of this page, put in " PS3 HDMI ". The one that has the 10 solutions so far has the best answers for you.

this will fix it i have the same tv and it fixed my i have a prob my tv has gone dark and can not c the pic i had to put the brightness up just to c it

Have you tried another source such as a HD cable box on the same component input (Y Pr Pb) By doing this you will eliminate the TV or the DVD player. If the picture shows great using the cable box on that same input then we will assume that the TV is ok for now. You may want to also check the DVD menu under progressive scan that it is set to progressive scan. if the picture is still not good, we would want to look at the I/O board on the TV. The red path after the Video switch maybe open. If this is the case we will have to go to board replacement. I will tell you what board to change.
