Question about Sony KDS-R50XBR1 50" HDTV

1 Answer

50" Bravia KDF-E50A12U

Hdmi is fine via hdmi lead off dvd but now, after trouble free 11 months, when using x-box 360 hdmi to rgb input there is a yellowish outline on images (more obvious with a lighter background). It seems it's either the 360 output (as I tried two seperate leads) or the TV input. Until I can try a seperate 360 on the same connections I'm worried the TV is at fault. Any thoughts?

You may have it set to scart video audio hdmi , instead of the scart try using the analogue video also , yellow connector on tv if it has it , also AV and scart aren't always the same on tvs search through the source option on the tv

Sony kdf e50a12u New bulb but until tv has warmed up (10 min.) it intermittenly loses sound but not picture

The lamp of course will or should not affect the sound---next time it is cold try it on a rear input---a DVD player etc to see if same issue--this could narrow down where the problem is.

Sony bravia KDF-E50A12U rear projecion tv wont turn on

Hi it sounds like it could be an issue with board that powers the lamp ,it's called the ballast. When you put a new lamp in the ballast has to provide more power ,when it starts to go weak it will not light up.Sometimes you can put your old lamp in and will work fine.Try they might have it right there.Hvae a blessed one!

Ghosting on hdmi channel on my sony bravia

With HDMI there should be no ghosting. And being a Sony Bravia it should be no ghosting. My 52" Sony is great.
You've got connection issues.

My Sony Bravia KDF-E50A12U has a ghost effect when I play the ps3 or xbox 360. Strangley my virgin media HD box gives a fantastic picture. I have tried the 360 and ps3 on other tv's and they work fine....

Ok, firstly, disclaimer.

This "solution" utilises a "service" menu, that only trained engineers should use. You are not one, you are an "end user". biggrin.gif So am I, but I paid attention. wink.gif

Use of this information is entirely at your own risk, you mess up your telly, it's your own silly fault. Don't go messing with stuff in there you don't know about.

To bring up the "service" menu, put the TV in standby mode, then press in sequence :

Onscreen Display ( the little screen with the i+ in it )
5 ( channel number 5 )
Volume Up ( upper end of volume button )
Analogue ( middle top button )

The TV should switch on and when it's warmed up, you should see a screen with lots of big green lettering on it.

Press the "menu" button ( middle bottom )

Use the direction dial to move down to "LCD Drivers" and press right on the dial to enter this menu.

Move down to "S H Pos Reg R". It should be "10", change it to "11". ( Left/Right to adjust )
Move down to "S H Pos Reg G". It should be "10", change it to "11".
Move down to "SHPos Reg B". It should be "10", change it to "11". (it's on the next "page", keeping scrolling down the menu)

Press the menu button to drop out of the menus, and the standy button to drop to standby. Switch back on, and hopefully your ghosting will be gone.

Fuzzy picture

You can't make SD look like HD thats why HD came out, the best you can do is adjust the picture controls to get the optium picture
