To type the Euro sign in Windows, you press the alt key+0128. As for the Sterling pound symbol, you can type it by pressing the alt key+0163. Please note that you have to type the 4-digit code on the numeric keypad (do not use the normal number keys) while holding down the Alt key.
Whenever there is a symbol to the right of a key, using the Alt Gr key pressed down and then that key tapped, brings the relevant symbol up. Also works if you want an acute accent instead of going to character map, i.e. ?, ?
Hold the CTRL key, the ALT key and TAP E. That should give you the euro symbol in Word. IN other word processing programs: Insert, Special character (Open Office). Hope this helps.
