Question about Amana ABB2227DE Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

1 Answer

Stabilinzing My Amana bottom freezer is on wheels and I cannot figure out how to bring the so called "legs" down to stabilize it. There are only 3/8 inch hex screws on the left side and I tried turning them all but nothing changed. Everytime I open the door it rolls out toward me. How do I fix this?

Re: Stabilinzing

Simply unscrew the "legs" to lower them. I've found the best thing to use is small slip joint pliers. Just grasp the rubber feet and unscrew until the legs are carrying the weight of the fridge.

On the bottom front you should have wheels they may be adjustable depending on the model. Otherwise you will see some octogon looking legs that can be adjusted. You may need a wrench to raise it. Right will bring the legs up and left will bring the legs down.

My amana bottom freeze refridgerator door in opening a little when the top door is closed. do i need to adjust the screws or is it something with the seal?

raise the front legs so the machine is tilted back a little, this will help the top door close easier, also most likely you have nothing heavy on the door itself, all a fridge does is move air,the evaporator coil gets cold and the evap. fan blows cold air from the freezer into the fridge side and the air keeps circulating, when you shut the top door it's pushing the air down into the freezer and popping the door open, like i said raise the front legs a little and put stuff on the freezer door so it has some wieght to it and it won't pop open.hope this helps salde

How do level out the upper doors on the Amana bottom freezer French Door refrigerator?

The ref is not usually at fault your floor is uneven.

Shim either the left or right rear wheel 1/4' at a time.
This will take the twist out of the box and Lvl. the doors.

Use hard board avail at Home depot.
2x4' sheet and have them cut it into 3 8" strips
then have hem cut one into 4 12' rectangles.
Use the long pices to roll your ref. out onto so you protect your floor.
Use the small ones to shim the rear wheel.

How to replace the rear wheel on Amana 22.1 cu.ft refrigerator

Remove anything in the unit that could spill or tip over. Raise the front leveling legs to allow unit to roll. Slide the unit out from the wall. Place something between the refrigerator and the wall to protect surfaces. ***Make sure you have someone to assist with this next part. Tilt unit to the side and lean it against the wall to raise up the roller to be replaced. There is a metal base that supports the rollers, compressor, condenser and fan motor. You will see a heavy duty metal pin that goes through the roller. Bend down the metal tab in the base to remove roller pin. Replace the roller, reinstall bin and bend the tab back up. Carefully set the refrigerator back down on all four rollers. push back in place and screw down the front leveling legs.

Have Amana refrig with bottom mounted freezer Model ARB2217CW. Noticed the last day or so it makes a buzzing noise--almost like an electric shaver then it shuts off with a click. Today items in freezer...

See the post by lola77 with the same complaint. We have an Amana top/bottom freezer and are having the same problem and we've only had it 4 1/2 years. First service call available that the 1-800 number gave me was 3 days from now, which is ridiculous.
