Could be HArd disk drive issue or Windows OS issue, try repair windows operating system before you change your hard disk drive , good luck

Maybe something is defective from the factory? Can you bring it back and exchange it for another? Is it a desktop or a laptop? If it's a desktop, maybe remove a side panel and aim a small fan at the inside. Do you know how to start up your computer in safe mode? Maybe try starting it in safe mode and see if you can do a system restore, do you know what that is and how to do it? Google will explain it to you, but I'd suggest those steps.

Have you tried to use your computer when power charger is connected to power supply? Then try it to check if your computer does not shut down. If do not shut down it self. You had problem with the battery or with charger not compatible with the battery. If you are turning off your computer by pressing the front panel power button, it is probably just putting Windows to sleep but not shutting the computer off. If your computer has Windows Vista, the default is to hibernate and not shut down even if you shut down through Vista. The "power save" message you see is coming from the monitor, which is letting you know it isn't getting a signal from the computer anymore but the power is still on. Windows will start up again from sleep mode if someone or something moves the mouse or presses a key.

The solution is to make sure the computer is actually shut down. In Vista you can do this by clicking the arrow near the power icon on the Start menu. This gives you the option of shutting down instead of hibernating. In XP, shut the computer down using the start menu shutdown option instead of the computer power button. Then the power will shut down completely.

If you have recently fitted new hardware. Take it out.
If not, buy a power surge protector from your local pc store

Don't know why the screen is blank. Toggle the F9 key to make sure you didn't accidentally toogle off the screen.

As far as turning off the power and shutting down the computer, the old stand-by is to take out the battery and then pull the plug. The computer will power down. Replace the battery, replace the plug and then push the start button. You may have to start it up in SAFE mode since the shut down process was not the "normal' process the computer expects to follow.

You have to click the Start button and choose "Shut Down " and click the mouse on that. If that does not work, try pressing Ctrl + Alt+ delete simultaneously. What they call the task manager will come up. choose Shut down and click on it. It should shut down

              MMMMMmmmmmmmm can you be more specific ? has it recently started to do this or has it done this since you purchased the computer ? Are you trying to shut it down from the windows shutdown menu or are you pressing the power button to let windows shut it down ?? I Need more information before I can help you work out whats going on with your computer ...If its only just started to happen you may have a virus or a trojan infecting your system or your bios has become corrupted.The windows registry may have become corrupted or your power supply is faulty...the problems that could cause this are numerous , please be more specific about how you are shutting the computer down..
