As time goes buy more of the keys will fail to work, pressing hard on the keys may do some damage to the circuit board inside. you need to remove the batteries any and small screws you can see then pry the two haves apart remove any screws that hold the circuit board to the top half and remove the circuit board to expose the bottom of the key pad you will see a black conductor painted on the bottom of each key button, use a Q-tip dipped in alcohol to clean the black conductor on all the keys then do the same thing to the contact points on the circuit board then rub a pencil eraser over the same contact points on the cicuit board and reclean with alcohol again.
This should fix the problem but it will happen again, and at some point even this won't fix the problem and logitech won't let you buy a new key pad, and that is the point I am at now and for that reason I won't buy another remote from them, I expect more than four years out of this product good luck.

The decrease volume button will not decrease the volume. The increase part works well.

Might be a contact problem. Try using an air dust blower or brush to clean dust. If it doesn't work, you should open the case and clean the keys and corcuit board.

The volume buttons don't work well at all. You have to push the buttons so hard to get it to work 20% of the time. I have new batteries. Other buttons work fine, just the volume buttons are the...

The first thing I would look at is the battery's some times they are not worn out but just need to be wiggled to clean the contact points. if that doesn't fix it you may need to switch to a universal remote. I Good luck.

Harmony remote control - volume won't stop increasing when the button is pushed

First I would check if the remote is momentarily sending out the volume command or is it sending it out continuously. You can use this trick with any IR remote. Using a digital camera with display, point the remote at the camera and press the volume button on the remote. If the IR led is working then you should see it glow on the cameras screen. When you release the volume up button, the IR led should stop glowing. If it does not stop then you may have a sticky key or a problem with the program. If it shuts off then the Harmony is functioning ok and there is a problem with your receiver. Another way to test this is to press the volume up button and then immediately cover the remote with a blanket or take it to another room or remove the batteries. Let me know if the remote is continuously sending out the Volume command or is it momentary.
Hope this helps.

Directv remote increases volume slowly

The Direct TV remote has to be programmed properly. See the user manual for the process. The problem is, the user manual tells you to enter a code for the TV, but gives you a long list of codes that may work. So it's simply a problem of trial and error. For me, the first code in the list gave me the same results that you got (having to press volume repeatedly). But when I programmed the 2nd code in the list, pressing and holding the volume worked!.

I can't guarantee it, but I suspect you'll have the same result.

Okay here's the fix.
Remove batteries. Re-install them wrong side in! Don't panic.
Reverse the direction of both the battery cells and install. Press "Power" button a couple of times and a few other buttons a few times. Then remove batteries and re-install the right side in.
