-   I've got the Acer Aspire 7520 Notebook with a Crystal Eye webcam. The cam worked like a charm the first hour or so, then suddenly went out. Downloading a driver (BisonC07) from the Acer homepage did not solve the entire problem, the image is not clear and it can no longer take photos.-   Majbrit
Aspire 7520. Camera doesn't work. vista find new hardware and lose it and find it again and lose it again every each minute causing an vicious cycle of beeping and poping up windows. Trying to use the software installed causes crash (the software - not vista)
Hm. Two problems here. First heraclitos. Need info--is this a built in webcam? I'm assuming it is. The Acer webcam (a Logitech) you
may be able to fix you webcam by moving all of your pictures to a new
file---it usually works, heavens knows why. If that doesn't work, try
reinstalling the webcam sofware as follows: (actually, first go to
control panel, then check out device
manager to see if you have any nasty big checks. If imaging devices has
a big check, try reinstalling the driver there. If that doesn't fixya,
click on Start, thten Acer Empowering Technology, then Acer E-Recovery,
and
choose Restore Apps and Drivers at the bottom of Restore tab. It will
extract; then click Install for Vista or (XP) on the left - click
Drivers - Camera or CCD - on the right side of the screen for your
model
which you saw in device manager. Please let me know if that doesnt do
the trick.

- For Jayrogger, no sound may mean that your speakers have been turned off somehow. Got to control panel, check device manager to be sure than no checks appear (fix if present, or report back if too complex), then go to sound in control panel. There you can check to be sure your laptop speakers are turned on. If they are, go to Acer, and redownload Realtec. Sometimes it just doesnt install properly. let me know if that hasn't fixedya.

Do you have sound working in any other application? Have you checked the device manager to see if there is a problem with the sound device or a conflict? Try updating both the sound device and the webcam drivers.
Adjusting the volume with hotkeys
Press the Fn key + the up arrow key. This will turn the volume level up.
Press the Fn key + the down arrow key to adjust volume levels down.
Checking volume control for muted input/output devices
Click Start, All Programs, Accessories
Click Entertainment, Volume Control
Ensure that all volume control levels are raised and any mute boxes unchecked, with the exception of the microphone.
Reinstalling the sound device
Click on Start, Control Panel.
Click on Performance and Maintenance, System
Select the ‘Hardware' tab then click on ‘Device Manager'
Click on the "+" next to ‘Sound, video and game controllers'.
Double-click on the ‘Realtek' audio device then the ‘Driver' tab.
Click ‘Uninstall'
Click ‘Ok' to exit out of all open windows.
Restart computer.
For Majbrit, check your webcam properties for any changes. You should also take a look at the administrative tools > event viewer to see if there was an event in the application log or the system log at the time your cam stopped working correctly.
