Brush bar doesn't rotate dc24

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC24's brush bar is engineered to shut off for protection if something jams it. Once you've checked the cleaner head for any obstructions, and removed any threads or hair from around the brush bar, you should be able to reset your machine as shown in our video guide:

It may help to use something like the eraser-end of a pencil to press the red reset button - you should feel a click as it engages.

Please note, the brush bar will never rotate when your machine is standing upright. Make sure you recline your DC24 into the normal vacuuming position before testing it.

I'm confident this will resolve the issue, but if you would like some further advice from our experts, please call us directly on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Why noisey

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC24's cleaner head is making an unusual noise, it's worth following the steps in the video attached. These will help you check that there are no obstructions in the cleaner head, and that the brush bar and end cap are both fitted in place securely. It's also important to check the brush bar periodically and remove any threads or hair from around it. This will help prolong the lifespan of the brush bar.

If you're still having difficulty after checking the cleaner head, please get in touch directly so our experts can provide further assistance. You can reach us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

I have removed the obstructions in the brush bar and the brushes still will not rotate. What else can I check?

Hi Genie, it's Jack at Dyson.

Once you've cleared any obstructions from around the brush bar and inside the cleaner head, you need to reset the machine. This is easy to do - just press the button in the red recess on the side of the cleaner head. It can help to use the eraser end of a pencil to press the button.

The procedure is shown in the video below. The brush bar will never rotate when the machine is standing upright, so please make sure you recline it into the vacuuming position before testing it.

I hope this helps, but if you'd like any further advice please get in touch with us directly. You can reach our freephone Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

Dyson DC 24 brushbar motor stops working , every so often , I press the reset button then it works for a while and stops again till I press reset again.

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC24 is equipped with a safety device which shuts off the brush bar if something jams it - for example, a shoelace or a rug fringe. From what you've described, it sounds like there may be something in the cleaner head which is jamming the brush bar. It's also important to remove any threads or hair from around the brush bar regularly. Please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide:

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc24/dc24-multi-floor/my-machine-is-not-working/my-brushbar-is-not-rotating/stabiliser-check

You may also find the video below useful. Make sure that before you test the machine, you've reclined it into the vacuuming position, because the brush bar will never rotate when the machine is standing upright.

I'm confident this will resolve the issue, but if you'd like any further assistance, please give our Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

Hi. I have a DC 24 which when brush rotates makes a very loud noise. I have replaced the brush and side bar. The side bar appears very loose. The noise stops when I switch the brush rotation off. Any ideas...

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC24. If the cleaner head seems to be making an unusual noise during use, you may want to check all the parts are correctly assembled, and that the cleaner head and brushbar are free of obstructions. The video below may help in doing this.

If you've tried this and are still concerned about the noise, please get in touch with us directly, as we should be able to determine the cause of the noise over the phone, and provide further assistance. You can call us free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US) - it will help if you have the machine to hand when you call.
