Could be a region setting issue. Go to DVD preferences and restore defaults. Try running your standard DVD from an outboard player and see if it works. Check your region setting- should be Region 1 for American DVDs. Any error messages?

If your OS is System 10, Go to home and find application folder, there you can find iMovie icon and double click it. or If your system is OS 9.0 or 9.2, double click your system folder which is on the desktop and then find the application folder, there you can find the iMovie icon, double click it and thats it.or If you have  the Operating System CD installer, try browsing the CD and open all packages content. There you will find iMovie installer and install it. Thats it!

Why the drive dvd rw can't play dvd movie
You need special codecs to play dvd movie disc...or you need the right player that already has them installed in the main program. Below is a free dvd player but it is also a universal player of all types of audio-visual formats. It will play any movie disc just like from blockbuster or netflix or the ones you buy at a retailer. The dvd player will play a movie for about 10 minutes then it gets freezes and does not play anymore. It's brand new. had it about 2 months.
I found out this tv/dvd will not play certain movies that are rented from netflix is that their dvd have a restricted thing, and this tv will not read the movies that are on certain disks. It plays movies good that I rented here in town. So theres nothing really wrong with the player itself. I did some reading and this is what I assummed.

Disney princess dvd player will not play any dvd!
We had the same issue. Try clicking <play>1234<play> and it should unlockk the dvd in the machine. Seems to work on my daughters. It's a parental control of come sort. HTH.

H02 Error after inserting a dvd disk
The trouble started with an error to close and open the DVD drawer. It indicated "close" when the drawer was open, or "no disc" when the DVD was inside, and I had to try many times before I get the right response and go on with the procedures.
But then it also started playing just a few MP3 tracks and stopping to work, showing again the inserted DVD data. Later H02, and then H07 and STOP. It doesn't even start playing stuffs, movies or MP3 tracks!
