No image is captured by the screen itself (LCD screen works but completely dark).

Canon Power Shot SX120is : all funtions work properly except there is no image appearing on the LCD screen (the "viewfinder" if you will). Details about camera shooting modes and such do appear on the "viewfinder" for every single shooting mode (as it does on my other Canon Power Shot cameras) but no image is captured by the screen itself (completely black/dark). I suspect possibly a lens error of some sort.

Did you try pressing the display button several times? in both viewing mode and record mode? Cycle through all display modes, s you get used to the button, so it does not trow you off when it happens again.

Testimonial: "Hello! I have tried pressing the DISPLAY button while cycling through all modes both in shooting and playback. Unfortunately it yeilded no results. Thank you for your time!"

Oops, Does not sound good. I think your camera is defect. Not sure it is wise to invest in a repair. First ask what it will cost and compare that with the price of a new camera, with at least the same specs.

I SEE the green light when I turn on the camera but LCD screen of Sony DSC-F505V is dark black, nothing happens-total silence and cannot take any pictures. Did I loose my camera? Solution?

Hi,

Based on the information provided it seems that the issue may be with the LCD Screen. You can check if the Camera is working by capturing images and inserting the Memory Stick in the Computer Memory Card slot. If the image capturing is normal then the images can be saved to the Computer. If the images are not getting captured, then the issue may be with the Camera. We can try power resetting the Camera to resolve the issue.
Turn off the Camera.
Remove the battery pack.
Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
Then, allow the Camera to remain without power for 60 seconds.
If the issue persists after resetting, then service may be required to identify the exact cause.

Thanks for using FixYa.

I cant see the person im taking a picture of on the LCD, its black.

This is due to the CCD Image Sensor failure in the Camera.
To confirm the issue, please check if the previously captured images are displaying normally. The previously captured images and icons will get displayed normally if the CCD issue is there in the Camera.
If this happens only with the live view, then try resetting the Camera.

The RESET button is located at the lower right side of the control button. To reset the camera, press the RESET button using a sharp-pointed object.

You may also try power resetting the camera. To power reset the Camera, remove the batteries from the Camera and then press and hold the POWER BUTTON of the Camera for 15 seconds and then reinsert the batteries after 1 minute and check if the Camera works normally.

If the issue is not resolved after resetting, service may be required.

LCD Display Blank

I have a sony cybershot DSC-S650, the LCD was very dark and could not see anything except if I pointed it at a bright object, everything else worked ok. I could take pictures but could barely see them in playback as well.

I took it to Sony authorised repair outlet and was told the CCD was damaged, they charged me USD $55 to repair it (in Quito, Ecuador)

Canon eos digital canon rebel xti - LCD won't work when shooting

Most DSLR cameras (like your Canon) don't have a live view - in other words, you can't "see" the image before you capture it. You must use the viewfinder.
