Receiver keep shutting off, power light goes off, tried rebooting but after about 20 seconds the power light goes out again

Try resolving the reason it's self-protecting.

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts and overloads by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Its in protect mode and wont go back to normal

disconnect everything except the power, remote, and ground. turn off then on. if it goes into protect mode then there's a posibility that the amp if fried. check all the speaker inputs and outputs to make sure that there are no stray wires shorting out. if it stays on then you may have a short on a speaker wire or an auxilary input wire. plug each one in one at a time until it goes into protect mode, then that's the shorted wire or it could be a shorted speaker.

You have a short. Check all power connections to both amps, all the way back to the battery. Then check to make sure speakers are connected properly

My 4 channel amp keeps going into protect mode when i power on,its not a imminet light, but it blinks once then dies out,plz help

Remove all speaker inputs and outs and just have your 12volt battery, ground and radio remote connected and power up the amp. If it turns red instantly, then the amp is shorted/blown. If it stays green, then install your speaker inputs and outs one at a time. make sure your amp is on while your doing this. if the amp goes into protect mode, take note of which wire it was for it's most likely shorted. Fix that shorted wire and the unit should stay on.

Protection light stays on won't power up

REMOVE THE RCA INPUTS AND DISCONNECT THE SPEAKERS, THEN POWER THE AMPLIFIER UP WITH THS NO INPUT, NO SPEAKER LOAD CONDITION. IF IT STILL GOES INTO PROTECTION AND YOU HAVE VERIFIED THAT THE POSITIVE AND ESPECIALLY THE GROUND CONNECTIONS, ALONG WITH THE REMOTE CONNECTIONS ARE 100%, THEN THE AMPLIFIER WILL NEED TO BE SERVICED. LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED FURTHER ASSISTANCE.....V

Cant figure out why my protect LED indicators continue to go on.. Why is this happening?

disconnect speakers at the amp, turn unit on, if it goes into protect, it needs service. If it stays on, re-connect speaker wires without speakers attatched at the other side and test again. (make sure wires are separated and not touching metal!) if it stays on still, check speakers one by one, when it goes into protection, you have found your problem. Disconnect the bad speaker and test again. Process of elimination. It can only be one of three things. Internal amp problem(nothing connected and protection) wires(no speakers connected and protection) or speaker(s) (when speaker connected, protection) Hope this helps. If you need deeper troubleshooting with this issue, post a comment and I can help you further.

Protection flashing and the system turns off

You need to take it in for service. I work at an authorized JVC service center and can tell you that you now have a serious problem. It could be the amplifier or the power supply causing it. The protect circuit will activate for several different reasons and only a properly trained technician with the right tools can determain just what the problem is. I don't berlieve that trying to play the disc you mentioned would have any relation to the cause of the problem, it is most likely just a coincidence that it happened at the same time.

Before you take it in, try this.

Unplug all the speakers and then see if it will turn on and stay on. If it does stay on you may have a bad speaker. Turn it back off again and then connect one speaker at a time and turn it back on. If it shuts off in protect when you connect the first speaker, unplug that speaker and try another. If it still shuts off and goes to protect with a different speaker you have an amplifier problem. If it stays on with another speaker it may be the previous speaker is causing the problem, so take it in to be checked. Whenever you connect a speaker and then the unit goes to protect, it may be the speaker that was just connected that is causing the problem. This is not 100% all the time, but it is a pretty good indicator that is worth trying before spending money on a repair.

If the unit goes to protect even with no speakers connected you have an internal power supply or amplifier problem for sure.

Le tme know if you need any more help.

Why does my amp stay in protect mode?

The most common reason an amplifier goes into or remains in protect mode is shorted output transistors. To eliminate other possible reasons for it to go into protect, read the following page.
