How do i go about changing my fuel filter i got a new fuel filter for my 1995 dodge stealth SOHC 6cylnder basic model i know where its located n how to change it over but i heard that i need to find th fuel pump n release th pressure n also disconnect th fuel gage first.. REALLY can someone give me heads up from start to finish with this what i thought was a quick n easy task?

I owned a 91 model--glad you have the sohc as the dohc has real problems.

some general thoughts:

The relay is possible but does the electric fan come on? If it does not after 10 minutes it will overheat.

Saw two where water pump caused same issue.

Check for possible head gasket leaking(compression tested?)

Another valuable resource I have used is the Socal 3S club located in the LA area of California---they have a online forum with areas for problems and solutions---free to join and they have several segments for parts and problems and general back and forth.

Again my experience here is based on owning both a SOHC and a Twin Turbo made in 91-----not like working on a ford...........

My money says it is the ECU (engine control unit) early 90's Mitsubishi's are known for poor capacitors in their ECUs. If the car is not starting, if it has spark but no fuel my first money is that of the ECU. If it has fuel but no spark I expect something within the electronics.

Is this engine the SOHC or DOHC.

If you need to replace the ECU there is a MD number you need to use to match the proper unit. The ECU is located under the stereo, remove the two interior flaps (carpet strips) that cover the shifter are. The ECU has 3 large electical plugs, remove these and unbolt the (3) 10MM bolts to get the ECU out

I have owned and replace three Mitsubishi veichles with bad ECU, one of which is my son's 93 Dodge Stealth with 3.0 SOHC.

For DOHC engines, both sensors are located next to each other on the left side of the block (near the driver) and above the oil pan.

For SOHC engines, the Oil Pressure Gauge Unit is located next to the oil filter (on the right side of the block) and the Oil Pressure Switch is located on the left side of the block.

first you must determine if it has fire, and fuel pressure if so then injector pulse. Any OBD codes???? you really need a scanner to go any further without guessing.

If there are timing marks on it they are most likely viewed through a small opening between the engine and transmission. There is usually a small black rubber type cover of the hole. This is assuming you have a regular distributor and not a coil pack that is used on other models.

As u said u r not getting gas to the injectors and u have changed the filter and the pump and it still the same.
Now u need to check the fuel lines for blockage and if the fuel tank is clean.Also check the suction line for holes and proper installation.

it could be your fuel pump , even if the pump kicks in, it has to pump approx 40 pounds of pressure to the fuel rail
