This is possibly an issue with the software the gps uses to work. You could try doing a Firmware update by connecting it to a computer and going to the Magellan website to access the update.
Same has happened to my gps unit too. The best bet thing is to contact Magellan and they will advise you to send the unit in for replacement with a refurbished one. or get a new one. I am still waiting for mine and as of date, nothing yet. How is it that their updates caused the fatal error? Anyone??
You don't because the magellan is having internal memory problems with corrupt files. You may try to update the firmware again but it probably will not work. Magellan Repairs are available at the jungleghost.com site.
It is too complicated to fix yourself. If the unit is out of warranty, the JungleGhost at jungleghost.com has a repair service. Go to http://www.jungleghost.com/repair_service.shtml
This is a software problem that requires the Magellan GPS software on
your GPS device to be updated the latest version, or sending the GPS
device in for repairs and updates.
I would recommend sending the GPS device in for repairs since many
people have had no luck updating the software when having the Unable to
launch application error.
I also had problems with a refurbished Magellan 4250. The paperwork inside said to install the 4.85 firmware update which I found would not work with Windows XP Home at least for me. I used my laptop which has Vista Ult 32 bit it updated with no problem that is so far the only solution I used.
