I would call a repairman to look at what caused the boom noise. It sounds like something electrical shorted out and just need the parts that shorted replaced. A repair is generally less costly than replaceing the unit. Also, how old is your unit and has it been checked out at least yearly, preferably at least yearly just before heating season. I have seen several heat units that have shorted and caused loud noise each year. Hopefully you will get a reputable repairman and not a person whose incentive package that is linked to getting commissions for new installs. There are a couple of companies in my area that within the first few minutes will offer the advise that the system is on its last legs, and should be replaced. There was one of my clients whose was told that on a system that was only 4 years old and still under warranty. If you have problems finding a good technician, call the BBB in your area or get online with sites like Angie's list. Let me tell you if there is bad technicians out there they can be found by customer complaints and customer compliments. I try to give the best imformation and I get 80% of new business off referral from satisfied customers. Just talk to friends and family and see who they use.
Hope this helps

SOURCE: heater and aircon not working, loud rattling noise and smoke from vent, now not power to fan

It appears your fan itself burned out. When a field coil of an electrical fan burns out it usually makes a lot of smoke. The noise could be something that fell in there that stopped the fan from turning freely. I can imagine it heated up under the strain and burned out.

When you restarted it was burnt out so hence no noise and no fan.
The smell of the smoke should also be clue. Electrical field coils burning has an awful soury type of smell.

I have an Empire propane heater which, after it kicks on and during normal “pinging” as metal expands, about two minutes in, the is a loud boom followed by what sounds like a loose piece of metal...

Loud boom noise might be caused by a buildup of unburned gas suddenly igniting. Propane is a heavier than air gas so that if there is a small escape will sink into any cavity available and build up until it reaches the heater flame - just a thought...
Not sure about the vibrating metal sound though. It might be something that can only happen when the metal is warm making it is difficult for repairmen to identify.

We replaced the blend door actuator and heat control switch on a 2005 ford explorer now we get heat when you swith the contro from one side to the other then theres a loud boom like the blend door is

You should have replaced the blend door as well, they have an issue with warping and the noise is the door being broken free by the actuator, which will shortly fail working this hard to move the warped door. Have you ever heard of a kit to do this without removing the dash called "Heater Treater", google it.

I have a Lenox furnace. Before this igniter kicks off, there is a loud noise comes from furnace. Where is that noise from? Thanks.

This is what we call a "delayed ignition",(gas is not being ignited right away), gas builds up in the chamber and then lights causing a boom. The cause of this problem could be from having dirty burners or ignitor not position to ignite the gas right away or your ignitor may not being glowing enough to ignite the gas being released, check all, Good luck.
