How do I tighten the refridgerator door handle on a Kenmore Side-by-Side Model: 106.57026600.

The door is completly sealed with no way to get to the screws. DI'm thinking that the door handle just slides into place after the brackets are installed. I've tried to pull up on the handle to see if it releases, but nothing. Some advice would be greatly appreciated since my warranty has run out.

Thanks,
Scott

At least Scott had a handle. Mine broke off but the screws for installing a new one are under another piece of molding. How do I remove that molding to access the screws?

how do you get to the screws to tighten the handles on a side by side ref handles

My fridge side handle broke completely off and I ordered a replacement part only to be faced with this same quandry:  How to remove these handle extensions?  I am loathe to break another part in order to replace the original broken part.

  • ikincaid Mar 05, 2008

Aha!  More searching led to a post about a virtually identical fridge but slightly different model number.  Here's the solution:

Parts diagram here for reference:  http://content.searspartsdirect.com/lis_...
(despite the diagram, there are actually two clips on each extension)

Wrap the bottom edge of the top extension (part 14) with a cloth to protect the finish and tap upwards with a hammer (rubber mallet preferably). Eventually it will pop loose and slide off.  Doing the same for the bottom piece but tapping downwards this time will reveal all the phillips head screws necessary to replace or tighten that infernal handle.

The reinstallation is just as easy:  For the top extension, hold piece sideways to line the bottom of the clip slots with the screw heads.  Now vertically aligned, place the extension over the screw heads, press firmly with your thumbs over where the two screw heads are to get them in their slots and slide into place.  Do the reverse for the bottom extension.

    Hope this helps someone!

How to tighten handle on door of kenmore ultra fresh

There are two handle styles for the Kenmore Ultra Fresh refrigerators available around the time of the model, 106.55539400. On one handle style, you need to remove trim pieces to access the part of the handle where it is attached to the door of the refrigerator. In turn, apply firm pressure on each trim piece and push it away from the handle. (Push the top trim piece up and the bottom one down.) For the other style, the handle locks into shoulder pieces that are attached to the door. Again use firm pressure on the handle; hold it in the middle of the handle. Push the handle up until it clears these shoulders. Then determine the correct screwdriver tip to use to tighten these screws. See page 7 of the manual, https://www.searspartsdirect.com/manual/25o0qstrl6-000582/kenmore-10655539400-side-by-side-refrigerator , for pictures of these handles. On some more recent refrigerators, you will need to use an Allan wrench to tighten set screws to the hardware shoulders on the door. There will be a small opening on either end of the handle for the Allen wrench to be pushed into contact with the screw.

Please add a comment with the model of your refrigerator for specifics about the handle for your unit. I hope this helps.

Kenmore Side by side fridge/freezer Model; Jsi 23. How do you tighten handle? I see no removable screw hole covers and nothing visible behind seal inside door.

Try pushing in on door handle & pushing up simultaeneously. If handle comes off there may be srews holding the clips.

I have the Frigidaire Model BFHS2611LMO Side by Side and the handle on the right side is very loose. I took off the rubber seal on inside of door but dont see any screws to tighten. How do I tighten

The model number is actually BFHS2611LM0. The handles have keyhole openings that fit over the pair of screws (near the top and bottom of the handle) on the outside of the doors. Try pushing the right side handle forward and down to lock it back onto those screws. If that doesn't solve the problem, push the handle up and then lift it off the screws. Then tighten the screws a bit (or replace them if they have stripped threads). Then replace the handle over the screws and push the handle down. Do not overtighten the screws; that can damage the door components. The manuals is available from Frigidaire's support site: http://b2b.frigidaire.com/support/manuals.asp . The support page for your refrigerator is here: http://b2b.frigidaire.com/support/ResultsPage.asp?strModel=BFHS2611LM0&User=&Search=Search . The parts diagram shows how the handles are attached; it's the last link on the support page.

I hope this helps.

The door handles are loose. I can't tell how to get to the inside of the doors. Do the handle covers just pop off? How do I tighten the handles?

I believe the fixings for the handles are under the door seals. If you just peel back the seal you should find the fixings.

Refridgerator door sags

Its a two person job. One person has to looses up the two hidges holding the door just slightly while the other person holds the door in place. Once in place tighten the screw/bolts for the hidges back up and check. If not aligned, redo it again until it is aligned and seals properly..
Good Luck!

On my Kenmore Elite #106.56683501 the refrigerator door is loose

Depending on the model, and the color, here's your fix.

Stainless with stainless handles- you'll need a hex key. The tiny hole is on the inside of the handle, close to the center. Turn the key until it's tightened.

Stainless with black handle/white/bisque/black- push the door handle up. Careful not to scratch the finish! once the handle pops, pull it straight off. Take a phillips head screw driver, tighten the top screw A LITTLE BIT and then attach again. Insert screws on the door into the holes on the handle, slide down. (will need to be a little tough with it.)
Good luck!

Kenmore Refridgerator Freezer Condensation

When I observed this issue, I found the freezer not running the defrost cycle enough times, (maybe this was in the spirit of conserving energy Energy Star compliant???))
If the Defrost is working, use the diagnostic test, that may be all you need to do until the next build up of frost on the coils.
