Re: Product key not accepted

Hello Zamis,

Where did you receive the product key to enter for microsoft office? Did this come with the software that you brought seperately from the PC? The Product Key that is attached to the PC that may be on the back or side of the PC is most likely the product key for the windows operating system. Unless otherwise says Office XP, 2003, 2007 on it.

Cannot use miscrosoft word. entered the product from the back, still not working

if this is a recent laptop the version of windows on it is only a trial version and there is no product key - you have to buy one. however, if you bought your copy of microsoft word and the product key does not work then you would need to contact microsoft to obtain a replacement. then again, if you are looking for a word processor, you can get a full office suite for free from and will read all microsoft formats. if you create a document to send to anyone with ms office then remember to 'save as' and select ms office rather than just save.

Did MS office come with the computer? If yes, then most likely your trial period has run out, and you will need to purchase the license key from MS.

A product key is a unique combination of 25 numbers and letters. The product key is used during Microsoft software installation to "unlock" or to open the product. If you do not enter the product key when you are prompted during the installation, the product may not open until you enter the product key. The product key is typically located on an orange or yellow sticker on the back of the CD case or the DVD case.

To obtain a new product key for your Office program, contact Microsoft and speak to a customer service representative. To do this, visit the following Microsoft Web site: (

The key under the laptop is most likely for the operating system. If you have a Microsoft Office get the CD key from that. Powerpoint is part of Microsoft Office.

Product key

You wont find a Microsoft Office product key on the back of your PC< this key will most likely on the original packaging your Office pack came with. The key on the back of your machine would be for your Operating System.
