Please restart your computer and tap the F8 key as soon as you see something on the screen. You should get the advanced boot menu. Select Safe Mode from the list.
Let me know if you were able to boot to safe mode.
try reinstalling the os.
there might be file corrupted in the system folder,,,
since the monitor runs on start up , we cannot say that it has a hardware defect...
reinstalling or upgrading your windows will help..
When you say screen goes very dark when it booted to windows so it means that when you turned on the laptop when the dell logo flashes the screen was fine? if thats the case could you please try this. after turning on the laptop you will see the dell logo flashes immediately keep tapping on F2 and then it will show you the BIOS setup utility, please check if in BIOS setup display goes dark as well. If yes then try this, after turning on the computer when dell logo flashes keep tapping on F12 to boot menu then select utility partition to run the diagnostics. Please run test on the LCD check if display goes black when running the LCD test. Then try this when you sees the dell logo keep tapping on F8 to boot in safe mode check if in safe mode display goes very dark. Try this too, boot in F8 then select last known good configuration check if the settings on your display will be fix. If you can boot to safe mode no problem then uninstall the display or video driver. then restart computer.
You can also try to connect an external monitor if you have one just try to isolate if issue is on the LCD or the video card. If the display is dark as well in external monitor then video card needs to be reseated if fails then replaced. In situation like this most video cards is integrated to the motherboards. So replace motherboard.
Okay on you monitor there is a button there you press its labeled with a little picture of a monitor with a arrow on it or in to that regard you push that button and there should be onscreen menu you use the + and - to scroll to the correct function you want once you done that you should be able to save your settings. This is all done on the monitor!
Please do click the accept button if this helps , Thanks
joel_herrera, Yes, this is a very common symptom of a failing Switch-Mode-Power-Supply and/or Inverter circuit! Very common in 2-4 year old lcd/fpd's. How old is your's? Do you have warranty? Have you tried the Flashlight test? DO THIS! Reconnect lcd monitor to your fully booted PC with a known good WIN desktop screen. Then power "on" the HD2201 and tell me what happens and what you see or don't see after the screen goes BLACK! Shine a bright flashlight onto the screen at different angles and let me know the results. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel @aol.com BYE
some times the data cable and the power cable to the LCD screen get loose due to handling or missuse/installation errors. so try to remove the cover just above your keybord.with a thin screw driver where u will see the small jacks for the LCD. remove and refix it and see. if it does not solve the problem, check ur battery condition. If the battery condition is ok, load a xp boot disk and reinstall the OS.
Perhaps it is trying to power an external monitor. Try this: Once your computer boots up, hold down the "fn" key (usually bottom row of keyboard) and then hit the key that shows what looks to be a monitor on it. Usually on the Toshibas, its the F5 key. This key will always be in the F key row. Let me know if this helps.
