Re: multic coloured screen

12b809f.jpgHere is what my pics look like. It was a progressive defect, some good pics, then these in between. Now they are all bad. I found this info below... even though the SP350 is not listed, I am going to call Olympus tomorrow. Good luck!

The camera takes blank images, or the image is distorted

  • There are a number of digital cameras models sold by Canon, Fuji, Konica-Minolta, Nikon, Olympus, Ricoh, and Sony (and possibly others) which use CCDs (image sensors) manufactured by Sony which have had a high rate of failure. Details can be found at
  • Most manufacturers will replace defective CCDs affected by this problem at no charge, regardless of warranty status. This service advisory (technically, it is not a "recall", since recalls are related to safety issues) only applies to certain models and certain serial number ranges.
  • If your camera exhibits the symptoms listed above, we recommend following the link or calling Olympus Customer Service at 800-622-6372. We do not replace the CCDs in Camedia or Digital Stylus models.

My Nikon D50 in picture play back mode is giving pictures in multi colour not as pictures ?

I'm not sure what you mean by "multi-colour mode" but this page shows all of the possible playback display modes and describes them. Hopefully this helps you. I use a D7000 which is quite similar and I've never seen a multi-color mode. Nikon D50 SLR Review

There is a purple colour to the screen and the pictures I take are blank. The rest of the camera works fine eg. viewing photos taken, lens opens etc.

better option is to reset the camera to factory reset mode simple way to do it is just press menu & find reset option in the menu ,by choosing it you will bring camera to its those modes when you purchased it without disturbing the stored data in card.try out you will be sucessful "merry chrismas "& god bless you.

Stripes across viewing screen

almost sure this is cause by flex circuit in the zoon lens that is damaged and need to be replaced. Almost always the problem of stripes in the picture is worst when you take pictures in full zoom mode because in this position of the lens the flex circuitis is fully streched. Thats all folks

Broken lcd screen

Sorry Douggie, you are havin a serious problem. your problem shows that there is no problem with its LCD screen itself but it is problem related with CCD sensor. Camera needs CCD replacement compulsaryly. So that no one can help you. It is advisable to go to Canon shop. thank you and good luck...
