When i turn on the shower the water will be warm for one minute and then cold, I have to turn it down and open again to get warm water

Reasons for this: ???
  • bad elements,
    • if one is bad, just replace both
  • bad thermostat or both of them?
  • broken dip tube / cold water mix tube
    • Notice the "RED" in the 1st pic on the left. 90% + of the tank is hot, with a broken tube, 75% of the tank is luke warm to cold.
Check for them. not that difficult of a fix

Worcester 35cdi water and heating luke warm

First thing is to know when it was installed? Check the top of the unit and see if it has in and out marks on it. If it does are they correctly hooked up? Installing them backwards causes this.

Only warm, not hot water from our tap unless I slow the tap down.

Warm water indicates a element is probally in need of replacement. For warm water only more than likely the top element is bad. If you get a burst of hot water for a little while then your bottom one is probally gone bad. Best to replace both elements when changing one out due to not being to exspensive and you have to drain it down anyway.

To change out shut water of and turn power of to water heater open hot side on a faucet to allow heater to drain down so you can change out element.

My oil fired hot water heater provides only sporadic hot water. For example, when I am home alone it takes 2 minutes to get luke warm water in the shower, then it is only warm for a few minutes, then...

It sounds like your thermostat on the water heater isn't working properly. try turning it up higher and if this doesn't work I would have a service techy look at it.

Water is warm

Warm water is a result of and element gone out and more than likely top element is gone out. Best thing is to replace both element's because they are not exspensive and if you replace just one it will work the other one harder and eventually go out.

Just a little information if the bottom element goes out it will give you a burst of real hot water then get cold. If top element goes out it will give you warm water then get cold.

Warm water only

You can eliminate the shower control knob possibility by turning on your hot water anywhere else in the house. If you get hot water in other places, then it could be the knob causing it. A substantial lime buildup in the tank can also cause poor heat transfer from the elements to the water.

WE HAVE CHANGED THE THERMOSTATS BOTH OF THEM, WE HAVE CHANGED BOTH ELEMENTS AND THE WATER STILL DOENT GET HOT ENOUGH. WE HAVE TURNED UP BOTH THERMOSTATS AND STILL NOT HOT ENOUGH. WHEN YOUR RUNNING THE HOT...

WE THOUGHT WE NEEDED ANOTHER THERMOSTAR, BUT WHEN WE WERE LOOKING FOR THE PART THE EMPLOYEE ASKED WHAT WAS THE TROUBLE. WE EXPLAINED, HE SAID YOU DEFINATLY DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH YOUR TANK AND ASKED IF WE HAD A SINGLE HANDLED FAUCET WITHIN THE HOUSE. NO WE DONT. HE SAID IT SOUNDS LIKE WATER IS MIXING WITH THE COLD WATER THATS THE REASON FOR THE WARM--COLD--WARM WATER. COME TO FIND OUT SINCE WE ARE REMODLING THE BATHROOM, WE HAD BOTH THE HOT AND COLD WATER TURNED ON IN THE SHOWER--BUT WERE PLUGGED OFF AT THE SHOWER HEAD AND THE FAUCET UNTIL THE TILE IS INSTALLED. SOOO ALL MY HUSBAND HAD TO DO WAS TURN OFF THE WATER IN THE SHOWER. NOW WE HAVE PLENTY OF HOT WATER, NO WARM COLD. YEA!!!
