I was having this same problem.

Here's what I did:
Under Tools-->Accounts, select email account and then select Properties-->Servers. At the bottom, check the box "My Server Requires Authentication," and then select Settings. Select "use same settings as my incoming server"

After I did all that, my problem disappeared. Hope that helps you.

We have lan cable, running XP with Outlook 2003, 2007 and ms outlook . Email is hosted by another provider.

Comcast started blocking port 25 so my email provider suggested I try using port 587, which worked for three other computers on my home network. However my laptop cannot send. My email provider had me try to telnet to the mail server on port 587 and it failed from the laptop, but worked just fine on the others.

I tried temporarily disabling my firewall (thinking it was blocking that port) but still no luck. Why would one computer on the network not be able to connect to the server on port 587 while the other three can???

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

This is an error from your e-mail service provider. Talk to them if this error continues to happen.

Check that your originating IP address is not on a spam list (not your email server, your IP address). I know with Exim servers it can cause this exact error.

What happens is if Exim finds you on a black list it will rate limit your outgoing email to 0 but still let you recieve emails.

This problem is very odd, when I am using dial up, I can send email but when using broadband, the error occurs.

using broadband, I can download email but not sending email.

Seems that this issue related to connection issue.

How do u send a email? i know, I'm.:( for real thou top line the email address that I'm sending to goes there but what goes in the c.c. line and subject line??

The cc line is for sending a carbon copy, You add an email address here a person you want to send a copy of the email as well.
The subject line is for putting a subject detail of the email message.
Eg Subject = My holidays. Then you type the details of your holidays in the email.

Cannot send email from Yahoo

Log in to your Yahoo! Mail account at http://mail.yahoo.com with your User ID and password.

On the page that opens, find the "NEW" button in the upper-left corner, beside CHECK MAIL. Click it and send email to any valid email address.
  • Type in the email address for whom you are writing to in the "To:" field.
  • In the "Subject" field, enter the subject of your message.
  • Use the large text box to type your message.
  • Click "Send" to send your message.
Presto your message has been sent after you click SEND!
Please don't forget to rate my answer. Thank you.

The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's e-mail address. The sender's e-mail address was 'fkb@ameritech.net'. Subject '', Account: 'pop.attyahoo.com', Server:...

One problem is that the incoming (POP) mail server shown in the error message appears to be incorrect. The server address should be "pop.att.yahoo.com" (with a period between "att" and "yahoo"). The incorrect mail server address may interfere with authentication of the sender's email address, which is needed before the outgoing message is sent.

The "530 authentication" message indicates your outgoing (SMTP) server likely requires "server authentication". Also, the "Port 25" message indicates your email program is currently trying to send via Port 25, with no SSL; but Ameritech/Yahoo accounts appears to use Port 465 with SSL enabled.

See more on sever settings for "ameritech.net" users:

https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/61941/~/i886---at%26t,-bellsouth,-sbcglobal,-ameritech-email-settings

I would suggest you check the settings for your Ameritech email account in your email program. You may need to correct several settings. The steps to access account settings are somewhat different for various email programs (Outlook, Windows Live Mail, Thunderbird, etc.). You should be able to find guidance in the "help" section of your email program.

This message exceeded the Maximum Message Size set in Account Settings, so we have only downloaded the first few lines from the mail server. Click here to download the rest of the message.

These errors mean that the size of the message, including all headers, text and attachments, exceeds the domain's maximum per-message size limit - essentially, that the email is too big to be accepted.
This means that the message wasn't sent because it was too big. You need to take out something from the email to that it's small enough to send.

Delivery Status means what happened with the delivery eg sent, failed.

The recipient domain didn't accept the email because it was too large.
I would advise you to send the email in 2 smaller packages.

Also:

Features Yahoo! Mail Plus Yahoo! Mail Message size limit 25MB 25MB Filters 200 100 POP access Yes No Forwarding Yes No Yahoo! AddressGuard Yes No No promotional taglines in messages Yes No No graphical ads Yes No No account expiration Yes No

25MB message size
Send and receive up to 25MB per message. That means sharing lots of photos, music, video, and presentations without worrying about bumping up against message limits.

Make sure your firewall program is not blocking yahoo. If that doesn't do it try this:

How to clean Cache
1. Go to tools on the menu bar in your web broswer
2. Click on Options.
3. Click on Delete Key.
4. Uncheck everything accept for Temperary Internet Files.
5. Click on Delete Button and click on delete.

This is the number one reason why web pages won't load.

When i reply to emails sometimes the message does not register in the sent folder but goes in the draft folder instead, how do i know if my email has been sent?

They will only go to the draft folder if you accidentally click the Save to Draft option instead of Send. It is very easy to do! If an email has been sent it will go, by default, to the Sent folder.

If you locate the email that you have replied to or sent then highlight it and then right click on it a drop down list will appear.

Select and click the View Full Headers option at the bottom of the list. This will give a popup window containing header info. If you read through it will show the following:

  1. From which should be your email plus the date and time
  2. a whole bunch of misc characters
  3. From with your name / email address shown
  4. Subject – whatever the email subject was
  5. To – Name / email address of who you sent the email to or replied to
  6. Content Type – plus some unintelligible info
  7. Content Length – which is the true size of the email plus any attachments.

If you can see this then it conforms that you message has been successfully sent from you email account.

Note: It does not show or guarantee that the email has been received or read at the recipients end.

I just got done setting up my windows mail and when i tried to send mail the error message reads..The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'hello', Account: 'Mail', Server: 'smtp.mail.yahoo.com',...

Since you have not signed up for Yahoo Mail Plus, they do not allow you to use another program to access your mail. They want you to use their WebMail Page so that they can serve you ads to pay for their service. They have an excellent Email Web Page, so it's a small price to pay.

But if you really need POP access and don't want to pay to get it, you could consider using Gmail. They allow POP access for free. Just setup a new Gmail account and go into the settings on the Gmail Webpage. From there, you can enable POP access. Be sure to write down the server information you will need to enter into your Email Program.

Good Luck with whatever choice you make!
