2001 Indian Chief engine oil capacity

Most oil suppliers have online application catalogues - choose your favourite brand and check the catalogue for the recommendation and quantity.

If in doubt each oil company has a technical guy who will be pleased to state which of their oils meets the specification listed in your bike handbook.

How to replace drive belt on a 1993 harley davidson heritage softail classic?

To remove a Softail drive belt FIRST remove the rear wheel then remove the primary chain, the clutch, the engine compensating sprocket, and the chain adjuster as an assembly, then remove the primary chaincase housing, place a support under the rear fork and engine, remove the pivot shaft and spacer, slip the drive belt off from the transmission sprocket.

To replace a Softail drive belt FIRST not that all belts, used or new, must never be formed into a loop smaller than 5.0 in. (130 mm), and must never be bent backwards because this can severely weaken the belt and cause premature failure if it, then install the belt over the transmission sprocket, install the pivot shaft and spacer, remove the support holding the engine and rear fork, install the primary chaincase housing, the primary chain, the clutch, the engine compensating sprocket, and the chain adjuster and the primary chaincase cover, fill primary the primary chaincase with oil, install the rear wheel, align the rear wheel and properly adjust the belt tension to the specified deflection.

I have a metallic noise from the clutch direction. only when i drive not when the Motor runnin in stand

I've heard this before and it turned out to be the front belt drive pulley was worn in the splines area where it goes on the transmission final drive gear. The tell tale sign is an oil leak from this area about the size of a quarter or half dollar after you ride. You can wipe the oil up and it won't leak anymore until you start the engine or ride the bike. This is oil running down the spines of the final drive gear due to loss of tension on the quad seal behind the pulley spacer. The metallic sound is the sheave of the pulley rubbing the backside of the inner primary. Check the oil level in your primary and your transmisson. If the transmission is low, this could be the reason.

How to remove starter on indian scout 2003

I'm sorry but I cannot answer your question. I don't have any knowledge of the Indian engine nor do I have any mechanical drawings of the engine. If it was one of the earlier models that used an S&S engine, I could probably help but I seem to think that model is equipped with an Indian engine. There may be an Indian Forum on the Internet where you may find some help. There's probably more than one. Some are more useful than others. You may wind up having to purchase a service manual to find out how remove your starter. Sorry.

I am trying to find out whether my 2010 nt700v has a belt or chain primary drive, or if the shaft drive has neither a chain or belt primary drive. My searches seem to result in no good information.

find yourself an exploded picture of the engine, primary drive is that between the crankshaft and gearbox, my thoughts are where it is located in oil the the chain would be the most likely option, this is not to be confused with final drive like your shaft drive, do you have a problem with your primary drive?would like to help

Just need to know how to change Engine, Transmission and Primary

There are two drain plugs on the bottom of the transmission. One is the engine oil and the other is the transmission. Drain the two oils from there. The primary oil drain is a small pipe plug underneath the lowest part of the primary drive cover.

The engine holds three quarts of oil, the transmission holds 20-24 ounces of oil, and the primary hold 36-42 ounces of oil. Fill the primary until the oil level is just to the bottom of the spring in the clutch assembly. If you get too much oil in the primary, the clutch will drag and you will be unable to find neutral with the engine running.

Indian Starter Problem

The mechanic should check the starter solenoid . The solenoid is the one that control the starter to function . If the starter is stuck there for you should check if the starter is worn out or destroyed. If it is worn out or destroyed there for you should replace it a brand new one. In some motor cycles there are some that have a stand alone solenoid .Separated solenoid to the starter but still the solenoid is one with the starter .The solenoid is connected to the starter by means of the wires or wire connection .You can find it easy because it is place very near to the starter . While some is like the car the solenoid is connected or placed on the top of the starter. That's why it is very easy to find.
