I need a little more specifics to help. What exactly happened when it shuts down. Does it restart? you need to check for ignition fire when it shuts off. If no fire check ecu module. If fire and no fuel, pump or pressure regulator is faulty

Testimonial: "it wont restart but now that i have it in my driveway i can check for that spark how do i "check the ecu module" pump has been changed already so i can try to get the pressure regulator checked"

Hi,
Here is the location of the "Knock Sensor" you requested, I hope it helps you. It is Number 17. for future reference here is the list of the others
1 = Camshaft position sensor (CMP)
2 = Crankshaft position sensor (CKP)
3 = Engine Control relay (EC) -engine bay fusebox/relay plate 1
4 = Engine Coolant temperature sensor (ECT)
5 = Exhaust gas recirculation valve actuator (EGR)
6 = Fuel Filter
7 = Fuel Filter Heater - in fuel filter housing
8 = Fuel Flow control valve - on high pressure fuel pump
9 = Fuel Rail pressure sensor(FRP)
10 = Fuel Temperature sensor - on high pressure fuel pump
11 = Glow Plugs
12 = Glow Plug Relay 1 - engine bay fuse box/relay plate 2
13 = Glow Plug relay 2 - engine bay fuse box/relay plate 2
14 = High Pressure fuel pump
15 = Injectors
16 = Intake air temperature sensor (IAT) - in MAF sensor
17 = Knock Sensor (KS)

2000 Kia Sadona...Stops from time to time. Usually when coming to a stop or taking off. Replaced fuel pump. Sometimes difficult for engine to turn over. New battery. Once I moved electrical connector...

Sounds like a possible crankshaft position sensor. It is located behind the harmonic balancer, inside the timing cover. It sets by the timing belt, so if you have a loose timing belt it could hit the crank sensor or throw up pieces of itself onto the crank sensor. A bad crank sensor can mimic a fuel pump issue. 721c6cee-d9f3-4086-a166-f472fa0318af.gif

Audi A6 no cranking..

NEED HAVE VECHICLE CODE SCANNED FIRST LOOK FOR FAULT CODES MANY THINGS WILL CAUSE NO STARTING,LIKE BAD CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR.FAULTY CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR,BAD SPARK PLUGS FOULED OUT BY FLOODING ENGINE DUE TO LEAKING FUEL INJECTORS,BAD ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR,BAD MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR.FAULTY ECM. CODE SCAN VECHICLE FIRST.IF NO FAULT CODES CAME UP YOU COULD HAVE FAULT IN FUEL SYSTEM, COULD HAVE STOPPED UP FUEL FILTER,BAD FUEL PUMP RELAY OR FUSE THE FUEL PUMP COULD BE FAULTY. TURN IGNITION SWITCH TO ON POSITION LISTEN FOR FUEL PUMP OPERATION IN FUEL TANK, YOU SHOULD HEAR FUEL PUMP RUN FOR FEW SECONDS THEN TURN OFF.IF NO FUEL PUMP BAD MORE LIKELY BUT CHECK FUSE AND RELAY FIRST BEFORE BUYING NEW FUEL PUMP.DONT BUY NEW PARTS HAVE VECHICLE CODE SCANNED FIRST USING DIAGNOSTIC SCANNER YOU COULD HAVE BAD CONTAMINATED FUEL.

Where is the crankshaft position/crank angle sensor located on a 2005 kia sedona

Hi, at the front of the crankshaft. if its near time for the timing belt, you want to replace it along with any pullies, tensioner and water pump

The crankshaft position sensor is mounted on the engine near the crankshaft.

Operation

The crankshaft position sensor is a Hall-Effect sensor that senses the crank angle (piston position) of each cylinder and converts it into a pulse signal. The signal from the sensor is relayed to the ECM to indicate engine rpm and the position of the crankshaft.

Removal & Installation

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the connector from the sensor.
  3. Remove the bolt that retains the sensor in place.
  4. Remove the sensor from its mounting. To install:
    1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
    2. Clearance between the sensor and the sensor wheel should be 0.020-0.059 inch. 2002-2005
      1. Properly connect the scan tool.
      2. Start the engine and allow it to idle.
      3. Be sure the idle position switch is ON.
      4. Specifications are as follows:

        Temperature - 4°F, test specification 1500-1700 RPM Temperature 32°F, test specification 1350-1550 RPM Temperature 68°F, test specification 1200-1400 RPMTemperature 104°F, test specification 1000-1200 RPM Temperature 176°F, test specification 650-850 RPM

2005 Kia Sedona, Trouble Code P0320. Everything I read online tells me its a Crankshaft Sensor. I called Kia and then sent me to www.kiatechinfo.com were it says that the code is an Ignition System Failure...

This is a common problem usually related to the crankshaft position sensor. Before you replace it, disconnect the electrical connector to the CPS sensor and clean it with electrical contact spray and add a dab of dielectrical grease. If the problem continues, replace the CPS sensor. It is easy to replace and is not very expensive. It just bolts to the engine block with one or two bolts. I believe the CPS sensor on the Sedona is behind the timing cover on the front of the engine.

I went to have an emissions test and I failed.

code P0320 stored.
Tests/Procedures:
1. Check if the oil pump drive housing has rotated on the hold down clamp. If it has, replace the oil pump drive gear and housing.

2. Scope the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor.

3. Scope the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor.

Potential Causes: Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP)
Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP)

2002 kia sedona wont start

Yes, definitely. If you have some mechanical knowledge you should be able to change it yourself. If not, your Kia people should be able to do it at a very reasonable price.( less than £100)

I think i need to change the crankshaft position sensor.

yes the crankshaft position sensor can cause all these problems at once. they are fairly simple to change and not a really expensive part if you want to check it though you can unplug it and hook a multimeter to it and check ohms as someone cranks the engine. should see a square wave as in 0 ohs to infinity ohms and repeat.

Kia sedona won't start

Turn key to on position and listen for fuel pump to turn on, if not check fuel pump fuse and relay. May also be crankshaft sensor. Maybe not getting any spark.
