Nope, unfortunately not. If you have a modded ps3 and your friend had a modded ps4 you could, but the software to mod the ps4 hasn't been released to that degree yet

sometimes if you are playing COD4 then switch a game to MOD WAR 2, i have had the same problem, to solve it just take out the router wire and let it reset this should solve the problem.

No you cannot.. The ps3 is the only system so far that plays any region game...You would need to buy a mod chip online and install it.. or check out some software that will let you do so..
The chip can be soft or hard
Soft meaning attatches on
Hard means you need to solder it on.

The problem with that is the PS3 that you bought is tuned for Japanese dvds and games, You may have to get your PS3 modded to support the French games. However I am unaware of the legality of having your PS3 modded.
