Connecting the Playstation 3 to the Internet

My PS3 is having problems establishing a connection... I think I may need a router but I'm hoping I don't have to put even more $$$ into this. I just unhooked my cable modem and put in the PS3 internet cord instead... its not connecting though.

It stopped connecting to wireless!

Myra, The PS3 internal antenna when connected to the board, is only a thin protected wire, so it is not the greatest system for range for wifi. However, it would seem the issue you are having is not connecting to the wireless router, but the router to the internet. The PS3 asks after you enter a new connection, if you want to test it. I always do this test and it is valuable. At the top of the test screen, you will see "connection to router"-Pass/fail, then connecting to internet-Pass/fail, then connecting to PSN-pass/fail. Do you have other devices connected to the router you are using? If yes, then you have a more serious problem. If no, then you just have to access the router via PC and set up the correct settings to allow your PS3 to connect to the internet. There are several different routers out there, so you will have to consult the manufacturer to set it up. Just a few key notes here. If you are ok with anyone accessing your internet, simply don't password protect it. And also, make sure that the router is transmitting by making sure it is in"air"mode. If it's not airing the SSID, then no device will pick it up. ^^ I hope this helps, and good luck.

How do I hook up a router to my playstation 3 with my comcast connection? I want to run my pc and my playstation 3 and not have to unplug and plug the ethernet cable back and forth.

You will need to get a networking router to split the connections. My suggestion is that if you are going to get one, consider getting a wireless N Belkin router for $60. I consider it to be the best thing since sliced bread. In the future if you want to move your PS3 to another room, you'll have the wireless capability to do so. Write down everything when establishing your connection so that there are no problems setting up your PS3.

There are splitters out there but it will slow down your connection and are not easy to find. Save the trouble and get the wireless router so you won't need to spend any more money in the future.

Good luck and if i've helped you out, please give me a good rating.

A need help

you can set your playstation 3 online by two ways, 1- by a wired connection, and 2- Wireless,

1-Wired Connection: Plug an ethernet cable from your highspeed modem to the back ethernet input on your ps3 system, and follow on your ps3: Network Connection > Internet Connection Settings > Easy > Wired Connection. and follow steps
2- Wireless Connection: You must have a Router connecting ethernet cable from your intenet modem to the router, and follow on your ps3: Network Connection > Internet Connection Settings > Easy > Wireless Connection and follow steps,

hope this helped you on setting up your ps3 connection :)

Connect playstation 3 to speedtouch

Hmm lets see. First try connecting ps3 through eithernet. Since you have not mentioned that, i figure that it works. Do you have a WAP protection on router? Some gadgets dont like to run into the walls sort of speak. Well to try the wireless just go to the network menu on your ps3 and look for your signal in the establish connection tab. See if that works

I cant register my ps3 to the playstation network

get your own internet connection, stop stealing your neighbors :)

if you are on your own connection, the check your connection settings, or the settings on your router. try connecting directly to your modem. it's nothing wrong with your ps3, just everything to do with your own network equipment.

Can't connect ps3 internet

Try entering the WAP code or whatever security you have correctly. If it still refuses to work try plugging in your brain by sticking your index finger and middle finger in the socket.

Internet connection failed but IP address obtained.

OK IF YOU HAVE PS3, and you get the ERROR DNS while trying to login into PSN, all u need to do is, shutdown the console, then restart it by holding down the ON button on the PS# not the controller till you hear 2 beeps, then try to login again, should work.

Connecting ps3 to internet

Your wireless router probably has a wep or wpa passcode that you will need to enter into your PS3.
