How can I stop those annoying animated ads IE 10, Yahoo, even though I have unckecked play animations in webpages under multimedia in internet options? That seems to not be doing it.

How can I stop these moving ads without having to download something like ad-block I'm very mistrustful of downloads, or having to upgrade to the high end yahoo mail which incurs a charge? I don't want to switch to Chrome or Firefox, either. Thanks!

I'm using GIMP to try to create falling snow. The 1st snow image has snow covering the image, the 2nd has the snow moved down 12.5 pixels, the 3rd has the snow moved down another 12.5 pixels, etc. until I...

How are you playing it? are you trying to create an animated gif?

If so, do the following:-

Create a file, with each of your snow images as layers, then

File-> Save As.

Name the image, then go to "Select File Type."

Make it a .gif image, and then click save.

GIMP gives you the option of flattening it or creating an animated gif. Click the button that says "Save as Animation", and then click export.

Then you get to alter a few more variables in the next dialog box (- you can set the frame rate (a higher number makes the animation go faster) )

Then once saved, load it up in an internet browser, and it should work.

Once you've saved you're gif image, open it up in your image viewer. If your normal image viewer doesn't show the animation, try opening it in Firefox or Internet Explorer. You can do this by right clicking on the file, and selecting "Open With." Then choose your internet browser, and you're all set!

Some sites the scroll down speed is really slow. It seems like text pages are ok and ones with images really slows the scroll responce down. Any ideas??? Thanks!!

Sounds like you are having problems with your Internet connection speed. You could try some of these tips..
  • Step 1 Click Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet Connections.
    Select "Internet Options."
Under Check for newer versions of stored pages, click "Automatically." Under browsing history, click "Settings."
If you're using dial-up, set the number under Disk Space to Use to between 250 and 1024 megabytes (MB). If you're using a DSL or cable connection, set it between 50 and 75 MB. Click "OK."
  • Step 2 Select "Delete" under Browsing history.
Click "Delete files..." under Temporary Internet Files to clear your browser cache.
Click "Delete cookies..." to remove all cookies from your hard drive.
  • Step 3 Disable any browser add-ons you don't need. In Internet Options, click "Programs." Click "Add-ons currently loaded in Internet Explorer." Select the name of the add-on you don't want to load, and select "Disable" under Settings at the bottom of the dialogue box. Avoid deleting ActiveX controls as this will most likely cause the browser to prompt you each time you encounter content on the web, such as Flash animations, that use that control.
  • Step 4 Switch to a faster browser. While Internet Explorer is the most popular browser, it often causes pages to load slowly. Download a free browser such as Firefox, Opera or Chrome to get a quick speed boost to your browsing.
  • Step 5 Disable images in your browser. To disable images in Internet Explorer, open Internet Options and click the "Advanced" tab. Scroll down to "Multimedia" and uncheck "Show Pictures."
To disable them in Firefox, click Tools > Options in your browser window and select "Content." Uncheck the box beside "Load images automatically."
To disable images in Opera, open the arrow beside the camera icon at the bottom of your browser, and select "No images."
To browse with Google Chrome without images, right click on the Chrome shortcut and place the switch "-disable-images" without quotes after the last quotation mark in the path of the file.
  • Step 6 Disable active content if you're still experiencing a problem with your browsing speed. Return to the "Advanced" tab in Internet Options. Uncheck the boxes beside "Play animations in webpages" and "Play sounds in webpages."

How to download an animation picture

If there is a flash animation on a website you would like to download, try these websites:
    www.keepvid.com
    www.convertdirect.com
    www.vixy.net
here you can put in the URL (address) of the website containing the flash animation and the flash will be saved to your computer.
Not an exact science, it doesn't always work.

Animations & vedio clips didn't play in web sites internet flash

Hi there, I think I can help you

When images or animations no longer appear in your browser take the following steps.

The most obvious thing to check is that there are no pop up blockers enabled in either the areas below or your anti-virus or windows firewall program, this might also include any image control programs (manage add-ons) such as “Toggle images.exe” in your browser.

If you are using Internet Explorer go to TOOLS/ OPTIONS/ ADVANCED tab and scroll down to multimedia make sure the animations and pictures boxes are checked.

In Mozilla Firefox you find this area under TOOLS/ OPTIONS/ CONTENT/ check the box that says “Load images automatically”

    On to the next step
In Internet Explorer go to VIEW/ ENCODING/ make sure “auto select” is checked and is set for the correct language (Unicode)

Let me know if this works for you

Jpg's display on some sites and not others on home pc but all display on laptop

Note: I assume you are using internet explorer, so these are directions for internet explorer. If you are using another web browser let me know.

In internet explorer at the top on your menu bar click on tools > then click on Internet Options > Click on the Advanced Tab > In the box that says settings scroll down until you see the section titled "Multimedia" Make sure the box that says "Enable automatic image resizing" is checked. Make sure the box that says "show pictures" is checked. There are also some other boxes here that would be good to make sure are checked as well such as Smart image dithering and play sounds in webpages, and play animations in webpages. The show image download placeholders does not have to be checked. And always enable clear type for HTML does not have to be checked. After you have clicked those boxes then click apply, then click OK. You may have to exit Internet Explorer and restart Internet Explorer for the changes to take effect. I hope this helps, and let me know if you have any more trouble.
